OK ladies, what is the deal with the SU 12 x 12 paper being just over 1/8? short on one side? This drove me crazy when I couldn’t actually get 4 6x6 pages out of a sheet for a class I was holding. This was the same issue several colors. Has anyone else had this happen?
When I went to a Regional SU event in Tulsa last year, they said that their 12x12 wasn't exactly 12x12. They gave us the measurements to use in order to get 4 perfect squares and even printed it in the regional booklet.
I think that making it just a bit smaller makes it easier to fit the pages into the 6x6 page covers.
The slightly smaller size is most likely to make the pages fit into their page protectors better. When I do 6 x 6 pages, I cut them at around 5 7/8" square (I think...it's been a while!) and it works out fine. Regardless of the exact measurements, just know that cutting each square a bit smaller yields four 6 x 6 pages. I used to work in a scrapbook store and many of our patterned papers were the same way; those that weren't were the ones I often had to trim down a bit to make sure they fit. If they're too wide, your page protectors will buckle or you'll damage your page while trying to fit it in.
I can understand the page turning thing, but I sometimes use it to cut out smaller pieces for things that need to be measured exactly and I nearly drove myself crazy because I thought that I was measuring wrong.
I’ve never measured other 12x12’s to see if they are true to their name, but would be curious if anyone has comments on that.
Same here!!! I thought it was me or my cutter! I am in a 6X6 ABC technique swap and thought oh no I don't have a perfect 6X6. I feel better now. I just made a 5 7/8 X 5 7/8 square. I think it will be fine!!!!

I'm a CM consultant, and the insides of our pages aren't 12X12 either. They're 12" top to bottom, but the side to side is about 1/4" off. I've found a lot of patterned papers seem to have the same issue, so it definitely isn't just SU!
I am a SU demo I was a CM but I just loved the stamps. FUnny all my albums ad CM and I had never really done the 12 X 12 with CS into the protectors like SU. I am now CRAZY over it and have all these CM albums that I need to finish I paid a ton. SO I do my friends pic in the CM and the family in the SU BUT I have the GLORY albums for my DH MIlitary and I have a CM with the window for our stay here in DC I think they are beautiful BUT I have to glue CS to the pages and it drives me nuts NO ONE BUT ALL THE SCS GIRLS CAN MEASURE CORRECT!! LOL
I jsut love to Scrap....mmmm I am going to my frineds open house in the morning for CM so I will get stuff for my friends albums. and HANDS DOWN CM has the BEST cutting system you cant touch it for anything!!!!
What would the world do if SU,CM and CTMH all combined :?

The whole 12x12 thing in scrapbooking drives me nuts. A few years ago I bought stuff to start my first 12x12 book. I did several pages and spent a lot of time on them. Well, they were done with cardstock purchased at a scrapbooking store that was true 12x12. They wouldn't fit in the book I had purchased. I spent the next 3 years looking for a scrapbook that would hold true 12x12 since there was no way to trim these pages down. I finally found a book at Joanne's - it's called "The Perfect Scrapbook by Colorbok". But now I can't find the refill pages to add more. Sheesh! I just don't get who started this whole conspiracy! I mean who was sitting around one day and said "you know what would be a hoot? Let's call this 12x12, but let's actually make it a little smaller and not mention it!"?????
Funny, as anal as I am, it never bothered me. I measured and compensated and figured that's just what you were supposed to do.
And, the Fiskars cutter we used to carry doesn't really cut a true 12x12 anyway, it always buckles the last 1/8 inch which drives me way more insane then having a slightly less than 6x6 page. I don't have the new cutter yet so maybe it does now.

PS, Stampin_Melissa - My family is from Wiesbaden, well I should say ancestors. That's really cool. My sister, who lives in England, is just chomping at the bit to be so close for almost 3 years and not been able to get there yet to check records.
OH, I just realized and had to edit - I'm not a Cardstock Collector anymore, woohoo!

Hey Glitter Queen! Does your sister stamp? If so tell her to bring herself over here and stamp with me! ;) Oh and tell her to take Ryan Air to Hahn airport, that would be the cheapest way. Gotta love Ryan Air!
This is something that frustrated me when I first got into scrapbooking. I used Pioneer Albums and everytime I bought paper other than their refills, I always had to trim it down. I use CTMH paper and albums now and everything is "true" 12x12.
