Challenge Title: Iced Leather
Hostess: LuvLee (Lee) Keyword: FF17LuvLee Date: Oct. 11, 2017 http://www.millan.net/minimations/sm...tersmileys.gif http://www.millan.net/minimations/sm...snowwindow.gif Ah, fall is here! Actually we've already had freezing temps and snow flurries on our mountain!! Fall always makes me think of leather coats and chilly weather. So I invented a little twist to a faux suede technique! For a suede look and feel, take a sanding block or fine sandpaper and rough up your piece of cardstock. Now look at it and feel it! Just like suede-ish! :) Now to get an "icy" look, use some glitter. You can use stickles if you don't have loose glitter but you won't get nearly the cool look as if you do this technique: 1. Swipe your sueded piece of cardstock with Versamark (or other glue-ey pad). Get some hard edges mixed with soft to really enhance the suede/leather look. 2. Now sprinkle Heat n Stick (SU) or other powder glue and heat gun it 'til it's tacky. Sprinkle your glitter on it and tap off. Now make your card! Here's a sample I made using pink...of course!! Here are two different panels I made: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.spl...8da139d124.jpg And a finished card sample: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.spl...febd0bd855.jpg VIEW THE GALLERY FOR THIS CHALLENGE: Here View the Falliday Fest Gallery: Here View the Falliday Fest Master Challenge Thread: Here UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Hibiscus Disaster I think it's so pretty!! You are definitely too hard on yourself! I sure appreciate you tackling the glitter challenge! |

Great technique and new one to me. I like that the glitter is anchored down. Hate opening an envelope and getting a cascade of glitter everywhere! : ) Thanks, Lee.
SUEDED SNOWY SCENE |
Thanks for the sweet giggle at the variation you have challenged us to! Thanks Lee, I needed that little chuckle today!!!

This was a real challenge and didn't turn out as I thought...

Glitter.  I WILL try this... just because it's YOUR challenge. ;)

I did sand my paper - but the 'suede' roughed up look kind of disappeared under all the Dazzling Diamond glitter??! https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/g...8974?nocache=1

Hmph... so, I have glitter cardstock, and glittered carpet, and (you are getting the idea here right?) it must be love Chickie... I even used powdered dry glitter.. ( and some of it stuck to the cardstock but, it surely does not look like your's mine looked more like suede before I glittered it, now its just Sparkly.
I think there was not enough ink in my versamark pad to make hard edges because my glitter coverage is nearly total. It may be also the powder ( its old? It was clumps in the jar so I smooshed it with my fingers (in the air) and sprinkled smaller clumps on the paper and then heat it and then glittered it, kwim? ) |
The trick after doing three cards for this challenge is to be very random with the Versamark on your card!! You do not cover the entire card base!!
I had fun with this challenge!! Thanks Lee! |

I have never done the suede technique so this was a lot of fun for me. Although I might of gotten carried away with the glitter. Thanks for the terrific challenge.
You can see my card HERE. |
so... I did not make a second one... however I have now started a second cuppa joe ( sans booze although its a close thing)
and I have swifter dusted everything 3 times to finish the card. ( hauling up the cordless little dyson is next on the list) good news is Grace did not follow me upstairs this evening here is mine https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/g...0&ppuser=83767 |
I remembered the ancient foil and flocking powder hiding in a lost corner of my heat embossing supplies tub. It took longer to shake the lumps apart than to actually make the card! Here 'tis: y'all

Stacy- I do ALL glitter behavior over a clean (never having been used for its intended purpose) kitty litter tray. Easy clean up. Lessons learned from years of teaching grade school...!

Here's my card.

Well, glitter and I don't get along so well, but I was pleased that with this technique the glitter actually sticks to the card! A great challenge. Loved sanding the paper, it really did feel like suede!
