Default Digi Paper

Not sure if this belongs here or in Tools and Products so forgive me if it has to be moved! I've used digi images for some time now but have never done any digi papers...can someone give me a good explanation of how they work? Is it similar to the images where you download and load them into some type of a program and print them? What type of paper are you printing them on? Do you use the basic ink pack (blue, green, red etc.) and does it completly deplete your ink supply?

Sorry if I'm being a dippy do here but I just don't get how they work?

Thanks for any info!

I use digi papers quite a bit and print them off all the time. It depends on your printer how much ink it will use and what quality print settings you use. I have a Canon MP560 that I am using off brand inks in a continuous ink supply system, so my ink costs are quite low. I usually use either matte finish brochure or matte finish presentation paper to print my digi paper at standard print quality settings. I estimate that I can print an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of patterned paper for around 35cents now with my new ink system (it was about 75cents with Canon inks). Most digi papers will come in jpeg format, so you won't necessarily need any new software to print them. I do however, like to print my papers in borderless so I don't have to trim the papers except for what I want to use. Basically, printing a digital paper is like printing a photo.

I print digital papers and die cuts quite a bit. What I like about digital images is that they can be resized. You open the paper in your program and its 12" x 12" and you just pull a corner in and can resize it down to 4" x 4". Perfect for cards! I use Epson Premium Matte Presentation Paper. I like this the best. And I also set the printer at Fast Normal and it uses a lot less ink.

Thanks so much for the info on the type of paper used for printing digi PAPER (not images). I have asked all over and not gotten a response. I did purchase the paper you suggested but have not tried it- will do today! I receive so many blog emails with freebies of digi paper- and beautiful at that- and wanted to give it a try. I actually submitted the question to Splitcoast (to Beate) and was thrilled to see it here today.
For beautiful FREE PAPER, go to Jak Heath's blog and click on "designs". Scroll down and print away. They are free to use.

Jak Heath Designs again.
She has some really pretty papers. Thanks for sharing. Another great place to get free digital papers is from digital scrapbooking sites. They usually have tons of free kits with loads of beautiful papers.
