Need suggestions on getting my digis organized. right now I only have a few, and have them saved according to what it is, like CATS, DOGS, HALLOWEEN and so on. however I am wondering if it would be better to save accoding to the artist. I do leave the artist names in my files. it's hard for me to keep up with what website I got what stamp from.
all suggestions apprecaited.
thanks!
I just started collecting digis and I put mine in a folder on my desktop. I label them with the name of the stamp followed by a dash and then the artists name. Ex: "Strawberries-Faith Caitlin".
It's a pretty basic way that works for me. I'm sure the seasoned digi collectors have great suggestions too! Hope you find something that works for you!!
I have just started buying digis and have gotten from several places......I'm just loving Tiddly Inks........anyway, I have a folder for each site and then save the images to that folder. I also have the folder open to show medium sized images instead of just a list that way I can see them right away.
I'm sure there is a better way, but that's all I'm doing for now. I can't wait to see others' replies.
I've carried over the system I used with my digital scrapbooking stuff to organizing my digi stamps. I have a folder for the website/company that I get the stamp from. In that folder I have it broken down to artist (if they have different artists designing for that company) and then by theme for each artist. I think I'm going to have to start using Picassa to tag all my images. I'm getting too many to search through when I'm looking for a specific kind of image.
I saved mine by artist because I have several images from most of the companies I bought from. If I ever find some time I will start another folder where they will be sorted by themes so I have both.

How would I link to Picassa? I would love to see samples of mine without having to open each one.
Thanks

I haven't quite figured it out yet since I don't use Picassa, but I do know that you can tag your images, so I was going to use tags like "birds" "trees", etc, etc. to sort my images. I believe that you can search based on a tag too.
I save my digis to a flash drive I have too many for my desk top any more- I have them in folders by who the artist is, type-sayings animals etc. Then I printed them through the office picture manager as contact pictures and have the images I printed in a binder.
I found this works for me especially when I go to buy new ones I can make sure i don't already have that image.
I save mine according to type (birds, cats, valentines, etc). I have them both on my computer and on CD, and for added measure I email myself a copy to my hotmail account just in case there is ever a fire or a flood or my computer goes Kaput......
as for the artist well,.... I am the artist so I always know who made them, lol! (Which is also why I email them to myself so that I am sure to have a copy when my customers want them).

you are very lucky to be able to draw! I have NO talent there!
I have this folder set up.
Top Folder Tear named: digitalstamps
in the folder digitalstamps I may have, mostly I use my own art but this is an example,
pixieduststudio
momanning
softpencil
in pixieduststudio
I may have folders named
girls
boys
xmas
halloween
then in say the halloween folder
I will have the stamp and its name along with terms of use page
such as frankieboy.jpg
so the full path to frankieboy. jpg is
digitalstamps> pixieduststudio> halloween> frankieboy.jpg
if I need to find this stamp by searching on my computer I can search pixieduststudio if I remember it is from her, or I can search halloween etc.
