This week my challenge is to make a page including a title you have created using a font that you've filled in with part of a photo, digital paper or gradient. I just learned this technique myself for Diana’s recent Photo Titles Variety Challenge, and it’s definitely fun and useful!
On my sample, I used a thick font and filled it with a picture from the same photo shoot. (If you look closely, you can see my DGD’s smiling face in there!)
There are several methods to fill a font, and I’ve added two links I found with instructions for Photoshop Elements. (If you want beveled edges or shadows, you’ll need to play around with the Layer Styles in the Effects palette – perhaps using another tutorial, not included here.) Although both lessons are for versions lower than Photoshop Elements 7 (what I used), they both seem to work. However, if neither of these do the trick for you, you can do a little googling for other directions, tutorials and videos.
If you have questions, you can post them here or PM me.
You can view all submissions for this challenge here: DGC049 To add your page to this gallery, just add DGC049 to your keywords. Also, please take a minute to post a link on this thread so we won’t miss seeing your work!
Have a great week! I look forward to seeing your layouts.
Oh, and one more thing -- don't forget to leave a little love for others when they leave love for you. Everyone likes to read comments about their work!! -------------------------------------------
Great challenge and it is most wonderful to see that digi has its own place for the threads now! Wahoo-will have to take a look at how to do this-your example looks so cool!

Hi Valerie! Was just thinking about you yesterday. Fun to see that you popped in. Yes, we have a forum -- and a few weeks back we got on the challenge list on the home page!!!
Oh, Candy -- I love it! It looks fantastic the way you blended the filled font into the trees. Thanks for playing -- you rocked the challenge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Picture of my son and wife on a wkend trip. They live in Boise, Id, and get to enjoy all the fab scenery Idaho has to offer. I had to use the clone brush on the pic of DIL to "paint" away a distracting pole behind her. That might be a challenge sometime Wendy, using the clone brush to "clean up" a picture.
Going to have knee replacement surgery but trying to put it off till after holidays.

Your page is perfect, Marcia -- love what you did for the title.
Cloning would be a great idea for a challenge -- it's one of the things I had trouble comprehending many years ago in the beginning of the photo editing days -- and is now one of my favorite things to do. Thanks for the idea-- you have lots of creative ideas!
Hi Wendy! Just wanted to let you know that I've been playing around with this technique and hope to get a LO done soon! TFS! I really love the technique!

Well now that you have this week's challenge posted, I have last week's done! Took me FOREVER! I can't figure out the inconsistencies in my program. I'll do something and it won't turn out right and then I'll do it again the same way and it will! SOMETHING must be different! Anyway, here's my LO!

Your page is stunning, Carol! Wow!!! You really rocked the challenge and I'm looking forward to seeing your pages in the coming months. You're going to dazzle us, I can just tell!!!
Thanks for taking the challenge -- can't wait to see your page for this week!
Just found an Enabler Alert in the digiscrapping forum: Costco has a $30 offcoupon on Photoshop Elements 8, so final price is only $50 and it includes the Scrapbook Training DVD by Linda Sattgast.
I used the 2nd tutorial you posted and was finally able to figure this challenge out. DGS was so surprised when he saw the layout...he loves it. But then what kid doesn't love seeing themselves!
