Happy Sunday to all. I am so happy to say the party we threw for my SIL for her 70th B-day with all of the siblings went very well. There were 7 of us total. They arrived starting at 3:30 and left at 11:00 AM this AM. Hubby put a tenderloin on the grill, and we made sides to go with it....mmmmmm!
I am finally feeling better- the chest coughing cleared up Wednesday and I am way less stuffy today- finally. Hoping everyone of you is staying well in this cold/flu season : )
I try to make Blog rounds each Sunday, so will be hopping tonight to be inspired by all of you : )
If any of you are into Chinese New Year....Michael Strong has a freebie of a monkey for 2016- which is the year of the Monkey.....on his blog. I am just printing them out today, will create sometime this week : )
Jeanette- glad you are back for the time being : ) We cannot get meds for the dog without a vet writing a prescription.... we tried to find less expensive heartworm meds, but ended up going thru the vet afterall. I guess the mail order does not have to use the same quality meds.....
Cindy- way to go with the Destashing! Wahoo : ) It is always fun to have extra $$$ and look at a cleaner space as well. My husband wants to really go thru the house...I will tackle the house one room at a time.... I think it is overwhelming to do too much at once.
Sami- Congrats on your exciting news!!!
Rhonda- you will be busy- I think teaching Art would be so rewarding- but it is teaching...making plans and all. I wish you the best with the position- will it be FT until the end of the year now??? Congrats on getting your Pintrest course up as well!
Waving hello to Ching- glad you will finally get some crafty time and time to blog! The job sounds as though it is going well, are you still working tons of hours?
Kim- is the snow beginning to melt yet??? Three feet is alot! We have had NOT much snow this year.......
Ok, Off to blog hop!
Shelly
Kelly- the camping trip sounds like it was a blast!
Most likely full time until the end of the school year. Back in the groove...just a few months sooner than I planned
I'm teaching Math (grades 5-, 8th grade social studies, and 6th grade reading. I requested that I be moved to the elementary or junior high and this is working into that perfectly. I'm certified for all subjects k-8 with a minor in k-12 art.
Just went in and finished lesson plans for the week, while my daughter made bulletin boards for me. Then we rearranged and cleaned up the room. Good to go tomorrow!
Made my blog rounds, oh talented friends! And I even got super crafty this weekend and managed to crank out 8 cards to get blogged/DT work. I also dragged out my craft table and, for now, it's sitting in the middle of our formal living room! Not ideal, but it's until I figure out where/how else to work I simply cannot create in that tiny little work space desk in just under 20" of desk.
I figured the guests that stop by can be entertained or my good friends, that already know, can stop and get their craft on - LOL!
Well, three of my dinner guests didn't show up for Fried chicken, mashed potatoes with white milk gravy (my grandma's recipe), corn fritters and rolls .... dd's boyfriend had an emergency with his granny so those two went to help and my other dd got called to work on a stat resource so I have 3 extra plates if anyone is needing dinner!
Rhoda - sounds like exiting stuff! My dd is studying to be a Special Ed teacher and takes her GK exam next month - after that, she's getting her feet wet by being a sub at area schools desperately in need. small world!
Sami - congrats to you! I saw some blinkies on your blog so I'm thinking we will see some good stuff coming your way!
And Kim - congrats on your new DT gigs, too - for your that card a day! Are you required to make a card a day, or are you assigned certain days? I tried that last year (100 cards in 100 days) and nearly killed myself doing that, LOL! Luckily, I was able to make some swaps count towards that total but whew - that was a challenge I was not repeating - hee hee!
Rhoda, I think it would be challenging to jump in and finish the year for another teacher. I admire your positive outlook on the job!
Sami, sounds like you had a fun time shopping... we'll look forward to seeing what you create!
Cindy, how awesome to make some money while purging! Continued prayers for your family!!!
Shelly, I'm glad you're feeling better!
Kelly, I would love to drop by and "visit" in your formal living room............ now that we can get our craft on. ;) And I'll enjoy a plate of food while I'm there too... please and thank you!
Good Morning from college! I'm sitting on campus waiting for my daughter to see her advisor and financial aid (her college is paid for, but she gets a pell grant each semester and THANK YOU LORD it came through again and in a NICE way!) Her truck is in the shop and will be done this afternoon so I'm hanging with my first baby girl! ♥
I heard Phil did not see his shadow so happy early Spring to all of you wishing it were already here! (me = wishing for snow and winter!)
Did I mention there is a STARBUCKS on campus! WOOHOO! Jackpot!
Hello to all,
Thanks for the Congrats : ) I love Random.org My goal is to use lots and lots of unused images and supplies. I hate to admit- I bought three new images for the challenge......
Hoping everyone is having a good day. We are having lots of rain today and the wind is really whipping it up today.
Got into a minor fender bender yesterday on my way home from work, and spent time getting that all straightened out today.
I joined in an Art Journal challenge thru the book of Proverbs- looking forward to having a challenge to actually do Art Journaling : )
I'm making soup this morning to take to our last luncheon Bible study for this year. (The church canceled one week, due to snow, so we've continued into the first week of February.)
Speaking of Friday... I'm heading out of town early tomorrow morning for meeting after meeting, after meeting. Yes, I actually have three different meetings in our state offices over the next 4 days - none on Sunday but it makes no sense to drive home 3 1/2 hours to turn around and go back in about 16 hours... so I'm staying in the city. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... might need to go to Michael's, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's................ oh, and Chipotle and Starbucks, too! ;)
I will be home late Monday night and back in the threads on Tuesday. Have a great weekend!
DId my blog rounds yesterday and wow, creative gals you are! I have some inky time tonight so I plan to get some cards made - finally!
Today is Math and Science bowl for our little man - he's on the bottle rocket competition. If they place today, they move on to Nationals - he's so excited! I came home to take dd to her SAT testing at the high school since her sistsers were busy - now I'm dashing back again. Run run - good thing I've got my Starbucks already!!!!!!!
I hope everyone had a good weekend. For me Monday is what I call digital house-keeping day. (Unless I'm working then digital house-keeping day is Tuesday :P) So today I am queuing up blog posts, visiting splitcoaststampers, catching up on YouTube videos, and working on summer school teaching applications! I hope everyone is having a good day!
I'm going to do my best to visit your blogs today!
FYI - I will be MIA again...for the rest of this week (I'll see you again next Monday).
My MIL passed away yesterday. Hospice told the family on Friday it would be less than 24 hours, most likely just a very few hours in fact. Well, MIL had her own idea of how long to stay.... and left this world for her heavenly home late yesterday morning. We lost her years ago to Alzheimer's and yesterday we lost her body. We are sad, but also relieved that she is no longer suffering.
We will leave early tomorrow morning to drive to Kentucky. DD will fly in tomorrow (and fly out on Saturday) weather permitting. DS will drive to Kentucky on Thursday. Visitation is Thursday, funeral Friday.
My prayers are with your family during this difficult time of loss, Jeanette. May you all find comfort and peace in God's promises as you reflect together as a family on the life of this precious lady.
It seems like ages since I came by...about a month actually. tsk tsk!
I made the rounds to everyone's blogs today, plus the DT blogs for Simon Says Stamps. Fun stuff, but now I remember why I rarely do company blog hops. They take forever! LOL
I have been busy off and on. Finished a video speaking gig; I recorded 4 "episodes" about prayer for an online prayer retreat. Lots of fun; except I don't like looking at myself on camera! LOL
Next big project is preparing a mailing in an attempt to get more speaking events. Then work on my presentation for a conference next month in Atlanta.
All that...and I am hosting a VSN challenge again! It's going to be March 18/19. Hope you join us!
Jeanette, sorry about your MIL. May the angels lead her into paradise.
{{{HUGS}}} to you and your family.
And hugs to everyone else! Have a great Valentine's weekend!

Hi ladies! Happy Monday and I hope you all had a lovely weekend and valentines day! I have unfortunately come down with a bit of a nasty cold type thing... yuck. But the school district I work for has off for the next 2 days and I don't have to work till Thursday so hopefully I'm better by then! Still hoping to get some crafty stuff done today though!
Hello my friends! I just wanted to drop in to tell you all I'm thinking of you and have read back in the posts to see what you have all been up to.
Jeanette, I am so sorry for your loss. Sending hugs to your heart.
Sami, I hope you feel better real soon...so you can enjoy your time off.
Kim, I don't think any of us like looking at ourselves...we tend to be too critical; but I'm sure you did a marvelous job.
Kelly, how did your son make out with the competition? And how long does your daughter have to wait for her SAT results? And when do you get a rest, LOL!
Lynn, I see life is keeping you on your toes (while stepping on them). I really appreciate that you always make time to comment on my blog no matter what is happening in your life...and your words are always so encouraging!
In fact, all of you are giving me ego a boost when I read what you have to say!
Hugs to everyone!

Sami, I'm sorry you have been sick. UGH! (((HUGS)))
Thanks Kim!
It seems I'm busy, Busy, BUSY. (I know that word a bit too well at times, too.) So I tend to peek my head in the threads in the morning and then never make it back again until the next morning. Sheesh!
But I do love seeing all of you and catching up on the news! And yesterday, I made the blog rounds... WOW! You ladies are impressive!
Yesterday we went out of state (to the city 1 1/2 hours away) to make two hospital visits. I drove - I'll chauffeur DH anywhere for a Starbucks.......... so enjoyed my treat on the drive home. (Brock chose Olive Garden for supper - I was so happy!!!)
Today I need to study - our first VBS Workshop is next weekend and I'm no where near ready. EEK! It's a 3-hour workshop... so takes a lot of preparation. So much to do; so little time.
Saturday has arrived and it is time to post the updated list of the blog members who have indicated to me during the past week that they wish to remain active members of the Creative Card Making Chicks. So here goes:
Should Jennifer, Kathryn, Jennipher, or Cindy wish to return as active members at any time in the future, they can contact me and have their blog returned to the active list.
Let's have fun blogging, ladies!
Any room for 1 more. Tried a small group earlier but it folded. Some of the groups are just so big and I don't have a ton of time on a daily basis. But if checking in when I can is acceptable I'd love to be able to join.
Finally able to pull my head up out of from feeling under for soooo long. Had lots of paperwork and documentation to complete regarding legal action against the start up I was involved with last summer. Finally seeing the light for some work life balance at the new job. I'm ALMOST done with getting all the monkeys off my back, aka all the missed deadlines my predecessor left me in addition to cleaning up all that they got wrong. My office is a mess, but an organized mess of piles I can easily identify of ongoing projects.
Home front has been a lot of adjusting to since our roles have changed with my other half being at home. While on his sabbatical, he's done great with spring cleaning all of his belongings and now there's space and room for me to get to mine. I just dropped him off in Central California Coast to spend time with his 96 year old grandmother who's alone now due to his uncle passing last month. She's incredibly independent and can function on her own, but it's a safe thing to have someone around, just in case. I think this experience will be good for him too as he'll grow when he has to learn to be less self absorbed by anticipating and caring for another's needs. It's the beauty of the circle of life. So he'll be up there through the end of March and then it'll be time for him to start looking for a job. I'm glad that his being laid off has turned into an opportunity for a much needed rest for him to get grounded again without the stress.
As for me, I've signed up for a few crops now that I have time to breathe and actually contemplate anything else other than work project deadlines. I figured this is the only way I can get some crafting done. I'm definitely taking advantage of being alone for the month so my crafting stuff is already spread out all over the place since I don't have to worry about encroaching on his space or have to put up with his "omg, you have an insane amount of crafting stuff" comments. Haha, best of all, I don't have to interrupt my creative time by getting up to make food for a grown man. I could go the entire day without eating when I'm in my zone, lol.
I'll be finally making my rounds to have a looksie on your blogs.
Had a Scentsy party last night. It was fun, but I won't do it again. I'll just order periodically. I hate the stress of trying to find folks to attend. I like my SU group because it's a club... the same ladies every month, we put our orders in & take turns with the credit. Much easier and less stressful.
How wonderful to find you here today, Ching! I am so happy that you are settling into your new job and finding some time to do the crafting you love. I hope that things continue to progress smoothly on the work and home front! Hugs to your guy for stepping up to assist his family during this time of change.
Kim and Jeanette, I have such respect for they amazing things you are doing. All that travel would have my head spinning!
(Calico)Kim, the projects you tackle blow my mind! The time and talent that goes into each one of them has my respect!
Sami, I hope your cold is cleared by now and you are able to be back in school on Thursday.
Kelly, how did that Bottle Rocket Blast go? I once helped coach a team that went to the Nationals in the Olympics of the Mind. What fun that was!
I know what you mean about the home parties, Tania! It has been many years since I have been willing to give one.
Sue, hello, and welcome to the CCMC. We are most happy to have you join us. Most of us check in and make comments once or twice a week on the blogs. If that fits your style, then welcome aboard!
Thanks for all the well wishes guys... I'm still fighting my cold a little and am still debating canceling my job for tomorrow. :( There's a definite chance I could be better tomorrow because I do feel a little better today but last time I thought that I ended up even sicker:eek:. I also am subbing for a new class for the first time and I think I'd like to go in not so sick for the first time. Anywhoo I hope everyone else is having a good day! I have some blog posts to write and pictures to edit!
Waving hello. I am enjoying a couple of busy days off- but at home and not traveling this week! Yeah!
We are heading out next week on Tuesday to Dallas and Austin for a week. I have a brother (& his family) in Rockwell and nieces and nephews in Austin. When I get back, will be heading to Ky to visit the folks......
Sami- do take your time- the virus going around up here takes about 3 weeks to kick..... The coughing lingers. My bout set off my asthma pretty good- very scary! I am on a new maintenance inhaler now and have to visit the Pulmonologist in 6 weeks.
Ching- glad your BF can spend some time with Mom- that is a long time! And, that you can spread out and be creative : ) I remember when we got married, my husband made comments about how much yarn I had- I used to crochet afghans then...... if he only knew what would happen when I met rubber stamping ......... Glad to hear the job is working out so well with you and winding down a bit from when you first started there.
Kim- how great- hope you do get many speaking engagements. Do you sell the recordings? Are they Podcasts???
Jeanette- you are really getting around- glad it is good for you and that you are liking it so much- especially when the path crossed a Starbucks......
Kelly- Speaking of Starbucks....I got some cool giftcards from there that had monkeys for the Chinese New Year....... My kids all love SB's, and we do not drink coffee.
Lynn- thanks for organizing the group : ) And, I agree- for all of your wonderful comments on the blog too. I had to resist the recent sale at Kitchen Sink Stamps- even though your temp me tremendously.....because I have a couple of sets and a special edition tin that I have never used..... I vowed to self I would use old/unused stamps and supplies before I go nuts and buy more. That was one mice sale though.......35%........
Tania- I like the group stamping too- do not want to get into a club though- not now- too much unused stuff! I have to say, my allergies are terrible the past couple of years, and scented candles aggravate my breathing : ( I can tolerate a Pine scent that is out at Christmastime for some reason, but other scented candles make my breathing nuts! Hope you did well at your sale.
Kim- I am with Ally- your projects you undertake are amazing- especially the 3-D ones : ) I love stopping by. I sent you another PM today- hope you get my FB name. I would not be able to do any blog hops until after I get back- not going to have time to create until then.
Well Hello everyone! I'm Susan and I'm very excited to be included in this group. I have updated my blog and added everyone from CCMC. Hopefully I haven't missed anyone. If your blog is missing please just let me know and I'll get you added A.S.A.P. In case your curious about the 2 names of my blog Simply Cards with the url of Ladyslipperway, I was a very confused "First timer" when I started all of this. (heehee...I say that like I'm an expert now! Not!) I gave the URL Ladyslipperway in honor of my mother who had passed in 2004. She was such an encouragement to my crafting. Somehow I got confused as I was filling things out and Simply Cards ended up as the name of my blogs homepage. Still haven't looked into how to change things so I just leave everything as is. You should see how I messed up a google+ thing. Thats called Easy Card Making. I have no idea how parts of my blog end up there but when I check it once in a blue moon there are snipettes from my blog there! LOL...Yeah computers and I don't always get along! Anyway I'm still trying and at least got the hang of doing my blog as long as I don't have to change anything:lol: I'm still working on my gallery here at SCS. When downloading a photo into my gallery I get all messed up because I usually dont remember all the "fill in the blanks" they ask for each photo. I rarely keep track of what paper I used yet alone what the color name is and heaven only knows what the name of the stamp set is that I used! LOL I am not a SU demonstrator and I use all sorts of supplies from a ton of different companys. Hope you can bear with me! Any way I just wanted to say hello. My husband and I are leaving for the northwoods tomorrow. No phone, no internet, no people really. If anyone is familiar with Door County Wisc you'd understand. Big huge Cape Cod of the mid-west during Spring-Fall but Winter..........a bit isolated. We have a summer place there and my sister retired up there but they are traveling right now so we're going to go up for a week to relax. Being retired ourselves it's great to be able to just pick up and leave. So I'll check back when we come home.
Hey Shelly I'll try to get close ups of samplers in my gallery, and so happy to hear your in this group too!
Wow, nice to see so many ladies stopping in! Sue, nice to read all about you
Sami, hope you are feeling better!
Ching - wow, you have a lot going on, girlie! Sounds like you are settling nicely into every area - and I'm with you, when my dh is away, my craft supplies are amuck! I hope it's a good visit with grandma.
Shel, yes I am a big Starbucks junkie - lol. But that's pretty well known, hee hee - I didn't see the monkey cards but did see the limited edition mermaid ones - oh my! I rarely go inside, I do the drive through! I love to chat with my favorite baristas and they always have my coffee ready to go (I order ahead on my iphone now to save time since all i do is drive around all day!) Not the best breakfast, but it works - LOL
Lynn - the bottle rockets were a lot of fun and they came in 4th (out of 12) we actually didn't know what they placed since only the top 3 move forward and they were not any of them, lol. He had fun, and they enjoyed the comraderie and got on the local news and picture in the paper ;)
We've been running to and fro from sun up and sun down - not unusual for us but I'm already counting down to Summer! No joke! I know Spring Break is coming up but two of the kids will have camp/rehearsals for the year end show all day every day so that's not even a break - hee hee!
I'm hoping to get inky after I get home tomorrow afternoon, especially since I have a few new SU! goodies here waiting to be inked! Oh I hope I'm that lucky!
Ching, my day was safe yesterday... only went to the small city an hour from home, not far. ;)
Tania, I've never had a home party - might be a good reason for that. LOL!
Susan, thanks! I do like to keep busy!
Oh Sami, I'm sorry to hear you're still not well... please take care of yourself!
Shelly, how fun to be nearly ready for vacation... I hope you totally enjoy your time away!
Sue, I see you're from north central Illinois.... where abouts? I'm from central Illinois, not far from Mt. Vernon (in a wee tiny town). We used to live in northwest Illinois (for 11 years).
Kelly, are you longing for summer???
Speaking of summer............... my DD found a Bible Journaling Cruise (it starts in Washington and goes to Alaska) that she's trying to convince me to go on with her. Wouldn't that be fun!?!?!?! If only I were independently wealthy. I'd jump at this opportunity in a heartbeat. But since I'm not, I'm counting pennies to see if it can happen. ;) Plus, she's not 100% sure what she'll be doing this summer.... so her schedule might prevent it.
Dear me... I've been awake since 3:00 and since I couldn't go back to sleep, I decided to get up. Yikes! I wonder if there is a nap in my future??? Not! I have a meeting this morning and a conference call meeting this afternoon. Oh well. Guess I'll sleep tonight.
Jeanette...oops need to fix that. It should have read Northwest Illinois. I'm North of Elgin just blocks from the Fox River in Carpentersville. Actually my side of the street is Carpentersville and the other side is East Dundee so I guess I could be from both towns! LOL.
I have been able to visit everyones blog last night and I loved everything I saw! I'll check in when we return from our little get-a-way.
I've been to Elgin... and East Dundee a lot of times; not sure if I've been to Carpentersville or not. I would have waved, had I known you were there. ;)
Another busy start - Starbucks line was EMPTY again - they must have known I was on my way? LOL That's twice in a row and it's usually wrapped around the block. Got the kids off to school, then zipped off to the college to pick up my daughter as she is going out with friends and only one car is needed - always fun to spend the morning chatting and having our car concerts!
Later, I'm heading to my other daughter's classroom to be her assistant with her African Art masks that the children made with balloons and paper mache and a whole lotta paint! They are precious. I smiled at the memory of just 15 years ago, the roles were reversed - I was helping her paint in a preschool classroom ♥
Since I'm home for an hour only, I'm going to head outside in the gorgeous sunshine and give our two stinky dogs a bath! LOL!
Here's to Jeanette's nap! The bible journaling cruise sounds nice - my friends went on a scrapbooking cruise for a 5 days and loved it - said it wasnt' a typical 'fun' cruise but more relaxed and no kids - ha ha - I was 8 months pregnant at the time and no way was I getting on a boat! But I heard they loved it. Let us know what you decide!
Kelly, my stinky dog needs a bath and a hair cut but today is his lucky day. I am headed to Houston this afternoon to be taxi driver for my youngest granddaughter all day tomorrow.
I have always wanted to take a cruise to Alaska! To Bible journal along the way! Wow, what a bonus. My sister who is into zentangle is doing stunning work in her journal Bible. I hope your pile of pennies grows quickly so you can go, Jeanette!
Have a great time on your getaway, Susan!
Welcome to Texas next week, Shelly! We always enjoy our time in Austin. Visit the Shady Grove for the best burger in town if you get the chance.
