Good morning, my inky friends! I am planning a stay at home and have a craft all day kind of day today. I don't think I would have even taken off my pajamas if I hadn't had to take out the recycling!!
In recent weeks I have added a mountain of new dies to my collection and plan to sit beside my Genimi (which finally came out of the box last week, Susan) and fill envelopes with images ready for glue onto card fronts!! I am going to turn that mountain of scraps into usable art!!
My daughter and I are supposed to go out for Olive Garden (yum!) and a movie today - she's coming back from college to pick me up to see Crazy Rich Asians .... looks quite cute. I read the book and am a fan of Jenny Han (yes, I read YA ...... I read just about anything!) Not sure I'm feeling up to it, so I'm crossing my fingers and holding my breath!
Oh LYnn, the gemini! That is on my drool list! (notice I didn't say wish list!) My sweet husband and children gave me a Scan N Cut for my birthday so there is no way I could wish for another such wonderful tool but LOVE that you have one!!! Now I will be stalking your blog to see which dies you are talking about! Proud of you - that will be a wonderful accomplishment!
Waving to Jeanette, Susan (where you at, girl!) and Shelly!
Kelly, so happy you have rebounded from the flu and are headed out to have a fun day with your daughter. Crazy Rich Asians is on my list to see! Let me know if your loved it!!
I am working on a way to reorganize my dies on the cheap! I need a way to find them more easily and a way for them to take up less space.
For my die reorganizing I am going cheap, visual, and space-saving. Here is what each packet looks like. The images are cut and glued to the front of a 6 x 9 envelope. The dies on a mounted magnetic card inside and cut and/or assembled pieced in a white envelope inside. I cut the top off the 6 x 9 envelope and attached identification information at the lower right corner. A key word was added as a tab at the top. A circle punch was used to punch a notch in the front center for easy entry.
When all are done, I will organize them by category and file them in alphabetic order in bins.
Today will be another day of staying home and trying to get this complete.
Mine are on magnet sheets (I Actually purchased a lot of misprinted magnet calendars off of eBay and they work perfectly). But they are in clear envelopes. I don't have a sample of the die in it.
I have mine stored by category... but I use that term loosely. LOL!
Boy did I have catching up to do. Still no notifications from SCS. This is nuts.
Kelly so sorry to hear you have been sick. Hope your on that road to recovery now. Hows the dog doing? Your VaCa sounded like alot of fun and the stamp store....wow what a great time you must have had.
Lynn how was the concert? Sounds like a fun celebration!
Shelly hows your mom doing?
Jeanette any trips planned?
Well Im finally home and with broken brakes. Van started making noise last tuesday when I'd brake. Makes me nervous to drive all the way home with bad brakes but in tourist land getting in for a brake job is next to impossible. DH will be taking the van to the dealer tomorrow. Seems odd to me that a van of only 2yrs old would need brakes already. Maybe theres a pebble stuck in the rotor.
Finally I have my keyboard back. I swear I should bring the laptop when I go up north instead of the tablet but I never do. lol I also didn't bring up any card supplies so there was not carding for me. Thought I'd read a few books but nope didn't do that either. Boy I was lazy! I did get to craft with Sister one day tho. We made cork pumpkins and a wine bottle Scarecrow. Both turned out cute.
Today I have to replenish the fridge and get stuff for Monday nite Family dinner.
Have a great SUNDAY!
OMG.......DUMB COMPUTER...................it only showed me posts from before the 22nd so I missed a bunch still. I'll catch up eventually. Ok I'll check in later ....going to go back and read some more current posts..............geez
Susan, it's good to see you... sorry the notifications still aren't working! UGH!!! Trips? Yep... DH, Brock and I are heading north on Friday. My uncle (from Missouri) is going to be at the thresher's event in/near Pontiac Illinois Labor Day weekend... and my DH is a farmer at heart. So..... we three are going to the thresher's thing. Please pray for me. LOL! I am not the farmer type. And Brock... oh my! He is throwing a fit! NO!!!!! very forcefully which is so unlike him. He rarely every uses the word no. But this is interfering with his annual trip to the Duquoin State Fair and he's not happy... even though this Labor Day trip will include hotels (he loves pools and continental breakfasts) and also a trip to an apple orchard to pick apples, which he also loves.
Kelly, Shelly, Lynn.... Howdy! or is it Hey, There! (I'm practicing my farmer voice, can you hear me?)
LOL...Poor Brock.....He'll forget all about the fair once he gets going on all the weekends events. (at least until he gets home...heehee Then he'll want to go to the fair and will be angry that it is over!) We have an "Ol'e Thresheree" up by the cabin every year. Barn dance, ice cream social and farmers breakfast are all part of the activities. Whats pretty cool up there is that every year it is held at a different farm and door county has alot of farms! Its so cool to see all the farms up close.
Ummmmmm...yeah better practice your farmer voice...I don't think you quite have that down yet. LOL
Van is going in for breaks today. Thank goodness cuz I don't want to drive that thing til they're fixed
Well have to get ready for Claire Bears arrival. School has started and my job of watching that little gem starts now. Actually it should have started 2 weeks ago but I skipped town heeheehee.
Susan, YAY for new brakes... but it's too bad they gave out so soon. And yes, Brock will most likely have fun, and then be sad he missed the fair. (He's already missed one fair this past few weeks).
Now... please don't tell my DH about the barn Ol'e Thresheree things... he'll be taking me to Door County if he hears about them. ;)
LOL.....now I want to tell (smirk smirk) Just think how much fun that would be! DH can go to Thresheree.... we'll go tourist shopping and take Brock and Nick to the petting Farm where you can interact with all the animals. Don't worry you can't go this year...the Thresheree is already over! heehee
I'd have to check. We haven't gone in a few years. It's either the end of July or beginning of August. Hmmm...or maybe the end of June. Ok...it's either June, July or August..lol.....I'm so confused!!!!
Coffee = always the answer, LOL! Okay, maybe not for all .......
so I'll just sip my 'Bux and pretend that my son getting sick, my car not starting today
and the lawn guy showing up unexpectedly (he missed Saturday) and me moving 5 cars in a small lawn one at a time like a valet didn't happen!!!
Yep. Monday.
Lynn, your filing system is awesome! Nothing wrong with doing it on the cheap (that's my motto, lol) Mine is similiar, and I keep them in clear bins (thank you Dollar Spot!) and I store them on magnetic sheets that dh brought home from work in a HUGE box! Something they no longer needed and threw out and he saw me adding them to my dies previously and thought I'd be able to use them - how sweet is he! And I use the clear avery elle sleeves (bought a pack of 100 for just a few dollars on some ridiculous National Scrapbook Day say - I'm part bloodhound and can sniff out amazing bargains! ROFL!) Then I used the label maker (again, compliments of dh's job throwing things out and him hoarding it - I mean - bringing it home!)
I'm a visual learner, so this is what mine look like .......LOL! I helps when I can 'see' things - people explain all day long but unless I see it, you know what I mean
Yeah for new brakes, Susan. Can't have Claire Bear screeching around town in a van with no brakes!! The concert was wonderful!! I enjoyed every minute of it.
Jeanette, sounds like a great trade off for Brock although he may not agree now. Seems he will have an opportunity to do many of the things he loves.
Kelly, you system looks a lot like mine. Sounds like we are a lot alike in the bargain hunting department. You do know that HB just put another pile of dies on 75% markdown, don't you?
I am going to get back to die cutting and making my envelops this afternoon. I am only about 1/3 of the way through the task. Then it will be into the Dollar Store bins with theme dividers.
DIES ON SALE?????? Look out I'm going shopping!!!! One thing I never seem to have enough of are dies! They are my passion!! lol You guys so impress me with your organization. All my dies are in those Art Bin containers willy nilly on magnetic sheets from Home Depot. That's about as organized as I get...heeheehee
OH Lynn, that prices is quite tempting! I can quite a lot of deals - perks of being on a budget way too long, lol! I didn't know they were 75% off -woot woot!
Susan, nilly willy works just fine! You should see my ribbon!!! You'd pass out! They are such a tangled mess (had to sell my ribbon storage to give dd the craft room!) and in a tote it went.
Jeanette, I have off brand sleeves as well - they are nearly identical! And I have the smaller AE ones 3 x 4 for the smaller stamps/dies ....... like the tiny lawn fawn sets, etc whatever works -that's my motto!
OMG it's after 7am and so darn dark here. Thunderstorms have arrived and boy oh boy it is pouring! Its one of those morning where is wish I could stay in bed but Claire will be here soon.
So Lynn............hows the Gemini??? Do you like it? I'm so excited that you finally took it out of the box LOL.
No...I did not get out for dies yesterday. By the time I get there I'm sure they will be out. But thats ok because my magazine from across the seas arrived yesterday and it came with a real cute bee die and stamp set. So I have something new to play with. Plus I found one of my earlier magazines that came with a fireplace embossing folder and some stamps too that I never took out of the package so now I have 2 to play with. So if Claire behaves maybe I can play a bit today.
Have a wonderful day today ladies!
I'm moving to the farm -[ that's it! Yesterday was NOT my day and apparently today is not either! I was driving the kid to school and felt a wonky feeling - guy next to me beeping like the car was on fire to tell me in complete spanish (the tire! the tire! the TIIIIIIIRRRE!! It's punctured!" Wow - he REALLY wanted me to know I had a flat!
AAA will be here in a bit to fix it. And now, of course, it's POURING rain .......
*** waves white flag ***
So I'm pretty sure I have a bottle of Winking Owl ...... sorry, I meant pot of coffee .... around here somewhere!!!! Since I couldn't stop for 'Bux
GGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP P
Have a best day with Claire-Bear!! I hope she lets you get crafty ♥
Lynn, love your breakfast club card! SUPER cute!! Hi Jeanette, and Shelly - hope you are okay!
Goodness, where have I been? I thought I checked in a week or so ago....
It always puts a smile on my face to catch up with all y'all!
Susan- welcome home! Glad you had a relaxing time, and welcome again back to reality! LOL Boo- summer is over, school has started.
No, I did not go to Stamp Fest.....
Jeanette- I look forward to hearing about your farm fest adventures! ANd, hearing how Brock likes it. I bet he begs to go back! We used to LOVE going to visit Gma on the farm! And, my darned thread her is double spacing everything.....grrrrr
Kelly- how fun- I have been to Ocala, have a High School friend that lives there! Is that where MFT store is? I will have to drive over when in Ft Myers again in November. Hopefully, if we have dates in advance, you can get a day off driving and meet me somewhere! We will be in Cape Coral Nov 3-10 and Ft Myers the following week. Can I make a reservation to get together already??? LOL
Lynn, I love seeing your storage for dies. I did get magnet sheets and the Avery Elle clear storage envelopes....and did not save alot of the outside covers- until I realized people would ask -where did you get that die- and unless it was colored die like Cheery Lynn, I had no clue. Then, I started saving the sleeves too. I have my Spellbinders and a few others in DVD cases with magnet sheets inside. But love your sleeve idea!
Your trip and concert sounds fabulous!
We have been running alot, dinners out with friends- ran to the city to visit Katie, took mom to my sisters to visit- Aiden (age 3) was there and she just loves the baby I have to admit, he is adorable!
I have been sneaking in a card here and there, ATC swaps...etc. I love to stamp! Tracy, in another group, suggests a Stamp/scrapbooking retirement home. Wouldn't that be awesome!
So, lastly- sorry to have to ask, but my SIL was diagnosed with a cancer in her small intestines aka duodenum. She has the best one, but none are great. She had a PET scan and awaiting the results. May I ask for prayers please? Her name is Diane. She lives clean- only organic foods and Juice Plus. (She sells it). Oh Boy! She had to have 4 units of blood...... She lives in Mexico. I hope the medical there is good!
My oldest brother is coming from Ky this weekend to see mom. We will cook out here on Friday. He is just bringing his youngest 2 kids. I asked his wife to prepare the kids about the place mom lives- many people who have no clue where they are and conversations that make absolutely no sense..... Bless their hearts and souls!
Susan, do you think Kelly survived without her bux?
Shelly, you've sure been busy lately. Sounds like it's been fun though. Yes, Brock will probably want to go back again... that's what's gotten us into the quandary this time. LOL! Once he's been to an "event" (fair, festival, etc) he thinks he needs to go to it again EVERY year. And he has a built in calendar, so about a month before any event is to occur, he begins talking about going to it.
It warms my heart, Shelly, that you are filling your retirement days with family and friends and stamping. I am saddened to hear about Diane. Of course, I will add her to my daily prayers.
Jeanette, I need Brock around here with his internal clock. I can't even remember what day of the week it is, much less what day of the year!
Kelly, the rain and a flat tire are the ONLY thing I have seen slow you down for a minute!! I know that you have had plenty of time to recharge with your Bux by now!
Susan, we are keeping our fingers crossed that we will get a few of your thunder storms today!! With temperatures in the triple digits and burn bans everywhere, we sure need rain! I LOVE my Gemini! I hope I don't have it smokin' by the end of the day as I try to finish my die cut reorganization!
I bought the rest of the magnet sheets I need yesterday, so my goal for today is to finish!! I am not planning to leave the house until it is DONE!!
Lynn so glad to hear you love your Gemini. I confess I just bought the Gemini Jr to go along with the big Gemini. Crazy purchace I know but so many time I only want to die cut a star and a word and having the huge one seemed silly for just that soooooo....DH gave me the green light to get the Jr one too. Can't wait til it arrives. The best deal was not on Amazon so I need to wait 6-11 days! Got it from Consumer Crafts for $129. and no shipping fees! Yay!!
Boy those storms were nasty and a ton of rain. I tried to send them to you but they drifted east sorry. But the storms did lower our hot humid days here at least for now.
Shelly you sure have been busy but it sounds like your having fun too.
Jeanette thought of you today. My morning has started with a ton of farm sounds. Claire is watching Peppa Pig oink oink while playing with the Fisher Price farm and animals imitating the sounds and carrying a fake snake. Apparently snakes say "babock". Bet you didn't know that! LOL
Kelly did you find the Bux? Hope your having a much quieter day.
No crafting done yesterday unless you call toddler coloring crafts..heehee The other two havent touched crayons in along time and I can see we need new ones. Alot of cheapy ones are in the box and those barely color so Apa will be buying his sweety a new box of Crayolas later today. Then watch out world Claires going to be a coloring fool!
Oh you ladies make a sick feelin' girl smile all the way to her soul! You are always so cheerful and fun! Still coughing through 'The Yuck' and getting through this ....... I get by with a little help from my friends (NOT high! :shock ← channeling The Beatles! ♥
The universe sent me some awesome karma today -
NO LINE AT STARBUCKS!!
It was just me ! I was WOOOHOOing in the line and gave a WHOOP WHOOP and then the barista asked me if I was feeling okay ..... LOL! EEEP.
Guess he didn't get the whole "look. It's been a rough week. The past 2 days have been rotten. Rotten! R.O.T.T.E.N." vibe I was tryna dump so I drove away!:p
Lynn, you go with the dies! And yes, celebrating with you/when you will be done! That is on my wish list but not on the budget list, LOL! Enjoy - both you and Susan! My Cuttlebug broke about a little bit ago and dh said I can fix that! I looked at him like he had 3 heads but he took it and off he went, and an hour later, came with a fully functioning CB - yay me! It is held together by screws and pins but it works so I'm a happy girl. It's amazing how much I use it.
Speaking of dies/cutting ......... I am HEARTBROKEN! I made a card (gasp -took me all day but I made a card. Just one. I know, scandelous, right?) and at the last minute, went to trim one of the sides because the left was longer than the right, added it to the trimmer and it wasn't aligned - cut right into the A2 base!! Like ruined the entire card!! I wanted to seriously cry - no way to fix it. I considered starting again but took the whole thing to the trash and filed that under 'lesson learned!"
Susan, glad Claire let you enjoy some farm time! I know that show all too well ~ it's quite the rage for the wee ones! Crayons are still one of my favorite coloring tools!
Shelly - yes, Ocala is kinda/sorta close enough! That's where I got my sweet Buddy! (jack russell) He's from a farm in Ocala Very rustic rural town ~ if you make it to Ocala, 1. defintiely lets try to meet!!! or when you head over to Ft. Myers!!! 2. make the trip! It's absolutely worth it - just bring $$$! You will want to pass out when you walk in! I had maybe 5-6 things but could have easily spent so much more.
You are such a sweet and loving daughter ~ I love that your family is so caring. And having met your sweet mama, I can see where you all get your loving spirits!
Jeanette - yay for Brock and his clock! (didn't mean to sound like Dr. Suess!) Do you stay at a hotel while you are at the event - the farm? I might have misunderstood in my 'The Yuck' fog ....... and hopefully he will get to swim in the pool if there is one!
I'm not so crazy about snakes either but they don't bother me as much ... especially since my son has one. I've learned to just pretend it's not there and dh/he have to deal with it!
Off to see what I can do crafty today with commitments coming up.......
Hugs!
NO! Say it isn't so, Kelly... you actually threw your masterpiece in the trash. Oh, now I want to cry!
We are staying in hotels on this trip - not on the farm. Whew! We'll actually be in a hotel near the farm on Friday night and will do the threshing thing Friday evening and much of the day on Saturday. Then we'll travel on down the road... toward our favorite you pick apple orchard (the one we used to go to annually until we moved away 8 years ago). We miss it so much that we're going to go to it on Sunday afternoon. Then we'll travel home on Monday. So 3 nights in hotels - all with pools and continental breakfasts. Should make Brock happy. And the apple orchard has apples, tractor/wagon rides, goats to feed, and so much more. He will be fine... if he can just let go of the Duquoin State Fair. LOL!
