We are going to be going through the Minneapolis area next month and I was wondering if there are any stamp stores that you could recommend? We do plan on going to the Mall of America while we are there and I was wondering if there are any craft/stamp stores in the Mall? Thanks for any help you can give me.
There's an Archiver's in the MOA. I do not recall what else is in the area (I visited a small local one nearby but it was years ago), but even if you just hit Archiver's, there is plenty to look at there!
I second Anchor Paper..great warehouse of paper and envelopes by the pound..they also have a ton of stamping supplies. Paper Depot is fab, too..unusual dp, and they also sell paper by the sheet and individual envelopes. You may want to check out Paper Source in Uptown area of Mpls..not a stamping store per say but they have cool embellishments, lots of paper by the pack ...check out their website to see what stuff they have. Hope you find lots of goodies!!
I third Anchor Paper...I buy all my Neenah Solar White card stock, Classic Crest & Linen, (80#, 110#) by the ream there. As Polly mentioned, Paper Source isn't really a stamping store, but it has a lot of gorgeous paper, embellishments and other fun finds!
Another vote for Anchor Paper Express here! Thay have an online newsletter that you should be able to find, that will let you know what sales they have going on. Always good to know what's on sale. I buy all my envelopes, by the box, atAnchor.
We were in the Twin Cities last summer. I think the Anchor Paper location you want is on University Avenue. We went to the one closer to downtown St. Paul, and it was just a manufacturing facility that was not open to the public.
I'd vote for Scrapbooks Too as well. It's not that far from the MOA - maybe 10-15 minutes southwest. They have lots of paper and some stamps and other supplies.
If you have time and want to take a drive out to St. Cloud (about 45-60 minutes west) - there is a great store there called Crafts Direct . . . TONS of stamps, paper, embellishments, etc. A way bigger variety than Michaels, JoAnn, even Archivers. Plus they have other craft supplies there too. You'll even drive past an outlet mall on the way.
I am curious if you are talking about the old Scrapbooks Too or the new one? I shopped at the store when it was under the old ownership and it had a great selection. It then closed and re-opened under new ownership. Their e-mails indicated some growing pains, like quickly stating and then changing coupon policies, and not having a rewards program established in several months time (they said just hang on to your receipts until they figured something out??). They also indicated they may close the store due to weather or employee work schedule conflicts. They stated this information would be posted on their Facebook page, so to check there before going to the store. It was awhile before I went to the store under the new management. I found they had almost no inventory and a dog was running around the store. I got the impression they were not serious about running a store. Has it improved in the last month or so? I'd sure like to give them another chance because I try to support small stamp stores, but it is not worth the trouble if they have not made improvements.
I am making my first trip to Scrapbooks Too this Saturday. I have always heard great things about this store. With the closing of the Osseo We're Stampin' Mad what other ones are there in the TC area?
Crafts Direct is definitely a fav.
Another question: How many of you are in the TC area? Have you ever done/interested in doing a Shoebox Swap?
I just wanted to let you know that this past weekend I was able to travel to the Scrapbooks Too store mentioned above. The last time I was there was this past winter. The improvement in the store between my two visits was dramatic! They had so much more stock and variety of supplies. I was so pleased to see how much better it was than the time I shopped there previously. It does not have anywhere near the amount of supplies it had with the former owners, but they are certainly building up inventory. I hope they are able to continue to grow and expand!
Thank you for the information everyone. I will try and get to a couple of the places, ware only in the rea Friday evening nd all day Saturday so not sure what kin of time will have. We are staying at a camp ground in Maple Grove and I seen that they have a Joann's there and I was wanting to know what they are like to shop at?

I live in Maple Grove... here... JoAnn's, Michael's, Archiver's. 45 minutes north of Maple Grove is the best craft store in my opinion - Crafts Direct.
I wasn't able to go to Scrapbooks Too on the day I thought so yet have to visit.
Are you or anyone here going on their charter bus trip next weekend?
Yesterday I tried to respond to your question, but it would not post. I am not able to make the trip back to be able to go on Scrapbook Too's bus, but it sure does sound like fun. If you get a chance to go enjoy!
I vote for Scrapbooks Too also! Also love their crop nights and the supplies that are so different from Michae'ls and Joann's. Both the old and the new store are tops in my book! I think it is great to support local independent stores, though, Archiver's is MN based too.

I can't resist adding another vote for Crafts Direct, here's their website: Crafts Direct Also, we aware that they will take competitors coupons with a $1.00 donation to their charity of the month. I try to round up all of my Jo-Anns and Michaels coupons before I head there. I live an hour away, and consider it worth the drive.
