I have been looking all over the internet to find a great place to buy blank cards for card making. Any ideas? I would like white, blank and kraft colors. I can't seem to find anything online!
What I usually do is just cut a piece of heavy cardstock (I like Stampin Up) in half at 5 1/2 inches. Then you can use whatever color you want- and one sheet of cardstock makes 2 cards!
Same here...I've tried various pre-folded cards, and none equals the high quality of the SU paper. It's really not much trouble at all to cut and fold my own cards. I also like the SU envelopes better than others.
But I'm in a card exchange group and making 15 of the same card...that get's kind of expensive when you are recreating the same card 15 times...
Anyone else?
But for bulk things (especially when I'm doing something with kids and they're likely going to mess it up a couple of times first anyway) I go to my local Walmart. They have prescored cards AND envelopes in a 50 pack for 5.79...
I grab a box on sale now and then at JoAnns or Hobby Lobby (or with coupon!)
Oops! On-line. Looking .....
JoAnn's has a set of 50 white (card and envelope) for $7.00
And Crafts, Etc (Hobby Lobby on-line store) has several colors on sets of 20 (card and envelope) for $4.99

I would think it's actually cheaper to use cardstock.....
5.50 for 24 sheets makes 48 cards....
If I have to make 50 cards for a card party I start with whisper white to make the cards. Then I use SU cardstock for the fronts so that one piece of colored paper makes 4 cards. I frequently have 3 or 4 layers but it goes a long way. If you make the front of the card a little smaller than the whisper white you have one more pretty layer.

First of all let me say I'm cheap, so what I do is go to Office Max and buy white blank 5 x 8 index cards and fold them in half. Works for me!!
now-- this is a good idea -- especially for making bulk notecards!! The finished card will be slightly smaller than normal, but I think that may be ok. Or- for kids - my DD gets upset if I give her the cheap pre-scored cards, but I always hate to give her good cardstock - as she "needs to start over" several times during the process. I'm going to try this!! Thanks!
I just bought some blank cards at Michael's last wknd. for $9.99 for 50 with envelopes. They are made from heavy CS. I like them! and the size is perfect. They also have colored ones as well in a different brand with texture for a little more price.
I just got a box of assorted colors premade blank cards at M's made by DCWV with my 40% off coupon. They sell big packs of blank white ones, black, and cream/ivory colored ones as well and they come with the envelopes too. I think they are plenty heavy enough to use, not too flimsy.

Those drive me bonkers, because the cards are an odd dimension compared to the envies -- way too short in the long dimension.
Folded cardstock (white or vanilla for the base) paired with non-SU! envies is the most cost-effective route I've found. I make a lot of cards for selling, and am always looking for a way to keep my material costs as low as possible in order to maximize my profit margin.

i buy decent quality ones at hobby lobby. i believe i get 25 for $4.99, pre folded with envelope. they've helped me through a bridal shower and just did baby shower invites too!
i believe michaels carries the same item. they put them on sale more often than hobby lobby & both places have the kraft paper color.
Another place to go is Kelly Paper. They have reams of cardstock for about $25 in a wide variety of colors and textures (some fancier ones can be more expensive) and envelopes in a wide variety of sizes. They have stores all over Southern California (sorry, don't know how widespread they are) and are online. You can also get single sheets of cardstock for 30 - 50 cents each in the store to experiment with before committing to a whole ream.
