The coupon I printed also says 40% off of one regular price item. I will check this thread again before I go to bed to see if anyone can give us a link for the 40% off entire purchase! Thanks.
Uh oh, I think what happened Michael's messed up at first. Because earlier today, it did say '40% off total regular priced purchase' not ITEM...guess that have fixed it now. I'm glad I got mine printed out, I am gonna try it and will see if they honor it...or if I have to have a fit, lol! No, I wont, because I do think it was a mistake.

Am I reading this wrong or does the coupon say 40% off one item- not the entire purchase? I'd love 40% of my entire purchase but I'll still take 40% off 1 item.
I guess I got lucky and printed it at the right time. I went tonight and asked the girl before I shopped and she said it was their coupon. Then when I checked out, it only took 40% off one item. She was a sweetheart and took the entire 40% off my purchase. I didn't even ask her to. I'm guessing Michael's caught their mistake.
Went to my M's at 4 central time and it only took 40% off one item. The girl read the coupon and still didn't change it. Well that just means I'll have to hit Hobby Lobby tomorrow.
I tried today too, and it took 40% off one item. The manager would not honor the 40% off the total. She stated right away that the bar code was for the regular one item at 40% off. If you got a cashier to honor the whole amount, you were doing good!

When I saw the link it had already been changed to 40% off one item. However, as I read it, you can print multiple copies of the coupon and use one coupon per day. For example, one on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, one on Thursday and so on. If Michaels has what you want you could go back there unless Hobby Lobby has it for a better price.

When I have coupons for one item only, I make them ring each item up as separate transactions and I always bring at least 5 copies of the coupons. The complain and groan but I dont care. LOL They do it and I walk away a happy girl ;)

This could be considered coupon fraud as Michaels has already changed it to 40% off one item. If you bring this to the store, it's doubtful that Michaels will honor it. (Especially since the scan looks like a xerox copy of a print out. And it could prove to be embarrassing). They will likely have a disclaimer in the store by the morning stating that the correct coupon is 40% off one regular priced item and not honor (as others have found) the 40% off purchase of regular priced items.
When I printed the coupon earlier, and brought it to the store it scanned as 40% off ONE item (which is what the coupon states now). I didn't have much, so when the manager wasn't willing to change it to 40% off total order I didn't make a stink. The other items I had weren't high value so it wasn't worth a fight. The other girl said there was coupon error and the barcode was the same as the one for 40% off one item so that was all they could do.

I work there and we didn't know about the coupon until someone came in with one. One of the cashiers told me about it, and didn't say if it had scanned at 40 off total or one item. So by the time we both got home yesterday and found the link on the michaels.com message boards, it was only for one item. After reading this thread, It sounds like it was a mistake that there was ever a coupon for 40% off entire purchase, and they must have edited the webpage that it was on. I have worked for the company for almost 9 years, and have never seen a coupon with that much off your total. The most off total I have ever seen for customers is 25 or 30%!
Well, if anyone needs/wants a job, go work for Michaels! We sometimes get surprise weeks where our discount is 40% off everything(non cricut)regular priced, and once a year we get 50% off everything regular price! This time a year most michaels will start hiring for seasonal help!

40% off one item makes a big dent! It was a big help on a more expensive item, so thanks for that!

I did get lucky and the cashier honored mine, she had to take off individually like already stated. I really wasnt going to press the issue though, cause 40% off one item is still nice! The manager there did state that they were calling somebody and mumbled something else too, lol.

You can use one per day. I just printed off 4 of them. Michael's is right next to the freeway entrance not far from my house.... very convenient to stop by multiple times in a week!
