I work for the government. We usually adopt families at Christmas time. This year we are adopting Troops! Being me....I offered to help with offering my stampin'services....Well....its a lot of troops. I was wondering if I could ASK you to donate 1 or 2 holiday (blank) cards so the men and women protecting us over in Iraq can send them to their families.....
Also we need stamps too!!
We will be getting a lot of donations for care pkgs from my office to send to them also!
I have a deadline of November 12th.....That is when we mail their care pkgs.
We are adopting the 2nd battalion 24th Marine Corp stationed in Iraq from Chicagoland!
We are also adopting 2 seperate gentlemen, also overseas....in the Navy and one is in the army.
Can you please help me! I want to REALLY tell them we care! It hits home!
If anyone is interested please send me 1 or 2 BLANK holiday cards, thinking of you cards, miss you cards...whatever!! Holiday would be the greatest though.....They need to have envelopes too!

Just wanted to step in and say I am so glad you were sweet enough to ask me so that I didn't feel like you were taking the wind out of my sails with the on going card drive that I am running...it was sweet of you! And also just wanted to ask how many are in the squadron that you all have adopted? Thanks!
Count me in as well. I just moved this weekend but will dig into it this weekend and get you some cards in the mail. Did you say you need postage stamps too? What do I need to send?
Hey Jenn, I wasn't able to get anything done but a wedding invite last night that I had to have done by today....long story...anyway, I am going away this weekend...an entire weekend no stamping!! AHHH...so I will try to get those cards made and out by the end of next week...sorry it is going to be cutting it close!
I am doing a Christmas Stamp camp this week. I will send my samples when it is done. It is on Wednesday night. I will send them on Thursday. Is this enough time?

I'm doing some work with Books For Soldiers.com...sending books, cards, snacks, cds, etc, and when I called the post office yesterday and the guy told me that he was "pretty sure" that the troops get free mail service when they're sending something to the states. I was going to include some postage stamps with my packages, but didn't because of what the postal guy said. I'm not sure where you can find out if that's true or not, but if they don't need postage, that would save some of you guys some $. If anyone knows if this is the case or not, that would be very helpful.
OK My DH says that as long as the soldier brings an envelope to a base PO or a Dessert US installation it will be sent home for free...he is not 100% on it but he thinks that it was instated at the beginning of the Afghanistan war...I will have him check this out once he goes in to work tonight...he is in the USAFR...I will post again once I know for sure...
my husband is in iraq currently and they do get free mail service. don't know about packages etc., but his envelopes always come with a "free mail" stamped in the corner. hope this helps...

Hi, I have already done a "Stamping for Soldiers" event at my church. It was Oct. 2. These handmade cards went out to my daughter's unit, 11 cards and envelopes plus a small notepad and pen to each 150 soldiers! It was a wonderful experience. Now the the student council of the elementary school I work at is helping me by having a greeting card drive. I am going to send these to a unit in Iraq. So far we have over 400 cards. This has become such a wonderful thing for these soldiers. Good luck and God bless to all who have these card drives. I know the troops appreciate it. Irene from WI
My son is currently stationed in Iraq with the Marine Corp. They do not need stamps for their cards and letters that they mail home to their love ones. All they do is write "free postage" on the envelope were a stamp would go,
I think its great that there are so many people supporting our troops overseas.
My "baby" is in the Army (the avatar is my oldest baby - and my youngest baby)... and he loves his homemade cards, he says. He goes over in March... I will make and send out some cards to you today (send tomorrow)... I keep meaning to ask about the regular troops group too... Do they need more stampers sending cards???
*hugs*
I was so excited to get my mail yesterday! I got the first of the troop donations! Keep 'em coming ladies....
Thanks again!
Keri - thanks for your brillant idea that I borrowed! I wanted to let you know that everyone who tells me what a great idea this is, I tell them its all your idea!!

Thanks again!

I'll be more than happy to send you some cards! I'll work on them this weekend, and then have them in the mail to you on Monday. I think that should give them plenty of time to get there.
I'll talk to a few of my stamping buddies and see if they'll also make a few. I would LOVE to have a big package to send to you!
