Monica, I am new to this website - had trouble registering so this is my first time logging in. I might have given up, but what really inspired me to persist was your plea to help the wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital. I am a proud army mom and I would like to help you collect cards for the soldiers who may be alone and hurting, expecially this time of year away from their families, hopefully get them there in time for the holidays. I haven't seen any other Arizona stampers logged on yet so I will offer to be the point person for Arizona (I am in Phoenix).
If you live anywhere in Arizona and want to participate in this very worthwhile project, contact me at: [email protected] and I will give you my snail mail U.S. address to send the cards to me. I hope to have 100 cards collected by the holidays to forward on to Monica. Look for any cards in your collection that you can recycle or have duplicates of from card swaps, etc. - you would be amazed what you find that you no longer need. Old store bought cards should be fine too. Why not send joy to these men and women who have done so much for us? Monica, some of us were wondering if envelopes are needed? Thank-you so much for doing this.....

I would love to do this! I am having craft night on Saturday at my house way out here in Apache Junction... So I will definately at least be able to contribute a little, if thats okay.

Hey all you AZ ladies, I am going to be in your neck of the woods Dec 11-15. Where are the good stores??? I think I'm probably more inclined to go to scrap stores than stamp ones... I'm staying in the Casa Grande/Maricopa area with friends, and then on to CA and IN where I will be doing more shopping!!
I'm sorry, I don't want to hijack this thread so if you could, just PM me. The original intent of this thread - cards for military members is very important and I thank you for all that you are willing to do to help out. I just got word that my DH was supposed to be leaving Iraq in Jan and is now one of the "lucky" ones who will be extended there until at least March. So, from a Marine wife - thanks for all the support you have for the troops - I know first hand how much they appreciate it!
Hello,
I just say your message here. I am glad you all are helping with this project. It is a well worth it small thing we can do for a great cause. I am so glad you all are here to help KEEP up the good work and Happy Holidays to all of you and yours.
Monica

So far I have nearly 50 cards ready to send! I am so pleased with the response. Thank-you Tracey (mama2jackson) for your contribution. I am hoping for 100 cards for the troops to send to Monica at Walter Reed Hospital on Dec. 13. I know some AZ stampers were getting together this weekend to do some stamping for the troops and bless you to all who did; however, it was a rainy weekend so I know I got a lot of stamping in. Any type of card will do.....Happy stamping
Susan
What cute kids you have Amanda! My kid is "mama2jackson". You can see her photo above. The cards can be any occasion - holiday, thank-you, thinking of you, hello, patriotic, etc. with greetings inside like "Greetings from Arizona", "You Are Appreciated", "God Bless Our Troops", "Thinking of You", etc. OR they can be blank cards inside so they can use them to send to their loved ones as they probably don't have access to birthday cards. We have quite a mixture. You can read more from Monica's posting on the Announcement Forum (up near the top). I am going to forward the AZ cards to her to distribute to the wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital. Hope you can join us....Thanks Amanda......Susan
I would like to thank all the Arizona stampers who have responded and sent cards for the wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. I will be mailing the cards on December 13 to Monica for distribution. There are quite a few holiday cards so they need to be there by next week. Please get your cards in to me for mailing soon. Any cards sent after that will be sent at a later date, but Christmas or holiday cards will be held. I hope there won't be a need for them in 2005, but I will hold onto them until next year just in case. Valentine's Day cards would be perfect to send next time. I would love to do this every other month or so. Thanks for the great response.....Susan in Goodyear, AZ
I am sending the first batch of cards to Monica in the morning - they are all ready to go and each has a personal message. They are so pretty. I'm hoping the soldiers will get them in time for Christmas. In the meantime, my son Jeffrey (mama2jackson's brother) is coming home from the U.S. Army for a break arriving in Phoenix from the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. Can't wait......Happy Holidays to everyone..... Susan
