My first set was mini messages. I also split a SAB set with a friend- it had "happy bird-day", some birds and some flowers, I rarely have used either. I thought it was really cute at the time, but that the prices in the SU catalog were ridiculously expensive and I could go to Michael's for cheaper stamps. So I bought a cute, but inexpensive set to be polite. WOW was I totally wrong. Turns out SU has the absolute best deal for wood mounted stamps. About a year later I went to my second SU event (a 5 for 5) and earned hostess benefits - the stamps I ordered that day have been used like crazy.
I think I might go use mini messages today. That will be my challenge.
How fun. One of my first sets with SU was Fresh Flowers. I also bought New Beginnings and Merry Elves that same day. I remember looking through the catalog the first time and making my wishlist and thinking man am I in trouble.
Mine was Fall Whimsy. I went to my 1st SU party and we made a card with that set, and I had to buy it so I could replicate that card since I didn't know how to make anything else!
I'm really dating myself here, but my first set (purchased 9-10 years ago) was Quilts Give Comfort. Went for bang for my buck, as it was a large set of 20-25? stamps in that dotted, country, line drawing style. Made really ugly cards with it, and sold it a few years ago :-)

Mine was A New Little Someone. I went to my first SU! workshop while pg with my son. I fell in love with stamping so I HAD to get this set to make baby shower thank you cards.
My first set was called Branch or Branches. I don't even know how old it is. It's retired, and has a branch, birdhouse, flower, apples. I still like it.

Holiday Woodcuts... I wanted to "try out" this new hobby by making holiday cards to see if I really liked it before I bought any more... Oh if I only knew!!
I got my first set in the mid 90's. It was one stamp, and I don't know the name of it. It was a spray of flowers...looked like a swag....it's very pretty. I should find it and use it.
What are you waiting for?!?
Oh Wenchie you know we love you.
My first set was Little Hellos, got it when they still had "kits" Then when I became a demo and hot my starter kit fell in LOVE with Heartfelt Thanks. Great set with such versatility. My go to when I can;t decide what to use.

Mine was mini mates set and an itty bitty background set. I will treasure them FOREVER as I fell in love instantly.

This is fun -- great question! My first SU set was Bold Hearts & Flowers, the foam-mounted version, in 1998!! :o I was strictly into UM then, so I bought the foam-mounted sets (less expensive than the wood) and peeled the rubber off the foam -- NOT always an easy task! I loved the quote and put a lot of miles on that set. ;)
Shapes and Shadows and I don't think I have used it more than twice, but for some reason I can't get rid of it. It's beloved because it was my first, silly, I know, but I'm sentimental about my stamps, they are part of the family, lol!
