I file my carstock in file folders and I just throw my scraps in the front of the folder. That way all my colors are in the correct folder and everything is in one place.
You've probably already done this, but I found my scrap access got a lot better once I threw out the ridiculously small or cut-into pieces, and ripped or cut off unuseable parts of the scrap paper. I keep scrap papers in a little hanging file folder by colour that I can pull out and set on my craft table, and put extra punched-out-shapes into clear pouches that zip closed.
I have a cropper hopper paper holder (like SU's) and have pockets in them, also by cropper hopper. I have one for each color family, patterned, and neutrals. I keep it on my desk and full sheets of paper are further away, so I am more inclined to use the scraps first.
I bought 2 Sterilite containers from Walmart. They have 3 drawers each & hold 8.5x11 size paper. I have a separate drawer for each color family plus one for neutrals & one for In Colors. It works so great!

I also have all my paper in folders (one for each color) stored in a two drawer file cabinet. Like a previous poster, I just toss the scraps in the front of the appropriate folder...works great.

It's official...I'm a stamping addict (second only to my "being a grandma" addiction)!
I've got mine in one of those accordian folder thingys. It is made of canvas and buckles in the front. It has about 20 plastic pockets inside, so I have labeled each one with a color and throw the scraps in there. It keeps them all in one place and easy to grab. I got mine at Wal-Mart for about $10. They are probably really easy to find right now, with tax season going on.
I bought a rolling hanging file cart from Staples and a bunch of hanging file folders. Each is labeled with a SU color and the color family, along with a sample of the color. Since doing this I use so many more scraps-it's the first place a go when looking for a small piece to layer.
I store mine in a check file (accordian style) that I got at the target dollar spot. There are 13 pockets in each file. I have 5. Each color family and neutrals.
I just have plastic flat and wide baskets from the dollar store and toss similar color scraps in like baskets. It is a new system I just started but it works. I keep it right next to my trash basket.
I ordered some clear plastic holders that have a flap closure. I think they are cropper hopper. They are about 12 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches and about 3/4 of an inch for thickness. They were relatively inexpensive. I have one holder for each color and I also keep patterned paper separate. I have used these scraps for cards but never for scrapbooking. I haven't come up with a good way to store larger pieces of scraps.

I keep mine in baggies of similar colors (i.e. reds together, pinks together, blues, etc.) in a small, shallow file box which I keep on my table ready to be used.

I actually did the same thing with the containers! Have them seperated by groups of colors. Love it, so much easier to sort through!

I like to use the pocket files from Creative Memories. They are see through and easy to transport if I'm working at friends' homes on some cards. For me the better I can see them the better the chance is I will use them.
I store my papers alphabetically in a 4 drawer filing cabinet, with a folder for each color, and in the front of each folder is a clear page protectror. I store my scraps in this, each color has it's own page protector, this is what I reach for first before cutting into another sheet of paper.

Same here. I like it because I look through the scraps first and then can reach for a larger sheet if necessary.

I do this too, but I sort by dominant color rather than brands.. all red scraps are in one folder, all blue etc. I don't even differentiate between CS and paper. I even throw ribbon scraps in them!

I use Sterilite drawers too. The cart I have has 6 drawers. I have a drawer for reds, one for oranges and yellows, one for green, one for blue, one for pinks and purples and one for browns and black. I use my scraps a lot more now that I have this cart.
I keep my whites in a Sterilite bin on my counter so I can use the scraps before I get out a new sheet.
I just reorganized my scraps so that they're in wood boxes with divider tabs in each color. I made tabs using the Stampin' Up rounded tab punch and stapled them onto divider pieces. I'll try to attach a picture of my new system. I used to keep them in baggies by color, but thought they were hard to get to. I have full details on my blog, but so far, I really like this system.

I have two systems. One for my SU cs and one for misc. companies. My SU colors are in a hanging file system. Each color has it's own color and in front of the full size sheets, I put file folders with scraps. That way I grab the folder first. I find that I'm a little narotic with my cardstock and can't let my SU cs get mixed in with my other colors. lol... With my non su cardstock I have my scraps sorted by color in a portable hanging file plastic container. It's bursting at its seams but I find that when I go away for the weekend, I just grab that with some other supplies and I find that I just about have any color I need.

Mine is kind of like this, but instead of putting the scraps in a file folder, I stick them in a 8.5 x 11 page protector (cheapest you can find) in the front of the file. Then, when I'm working on something, I just grab the sheet protector and have several sizes of scraps to work with by color. Really works well for me, and I can instantly tell if I have the size of scrap I need or if I need to grab a new sheet.
I found a plastic accordian file at Officemax that has full size pockets at the back and half size (like coupon size) at the front and it works great - I labelled each pocket a color family (red, blue, green) and keep the scraps sorted that way. Now I actually use my scraps
I've made 3 - 2 in. binders of which 2 of them have the 4 SU color families in them (2 in each binder) and the 3rd binder has the In Colors and all the neutrals. Works awesome, I just face the binder towards me for whatever I'm doing and it's all at my fingertips. One hint is to put a full sheet of cardstock for each color in the page protectors for 2 reasons #1 - it holds the page protector up and #2 - you can easily identify the colors. Then all your scraps go infront of the full page and let me tell ya, it has greatly reduced my scraps since it's the first thing I grab when I sit down at my table. And if you have an OCD issues about organizing...............lol this is a good one!!!
I sorth them by color families in small baggies. Earth Elements together, etc. One baggie for neutrals. I really don't use non-S.U.! paper. I also don't keep little teeny scraps, or bent scraps or scraps with tears.

I hope it works for you like it does for me. Even if I have been cutting cardstock all day with all sorts of projects, when I'm all done all I do is put the 3 binders infront of me and start sorting.........takes less than 5 mins. and I have my table back.

Well...I've been sorting paper all afternoon. I made my pile of scrap paper much smaller by getting rid of the little pieces. Then I sorted by color and put solid paper in 1 binder. I will work on the pattern paper later when I think of a sorting system. Thanks again for your inspiration!

Oh yeah, I like this one! I might have to do that. So far, I am trying the filing thing in the hanging files. I have them sorted by color family cuz I like to keep the coordinating CS together. I have white, black, gray, etc. separated as well. When I open my drawer, I put all the scraps in front of the large sheets, but I am finding that the scraps are of different colors and they are getting mixed up. So I think I have to break it down by color now. I think binders would take up much less space than my plastic 3 drawer thingie! Thanks for sharing!!!

Thanks again for your scrap storage idea. This weekend I did the VSN challenges and I used the scrap notebook. It was so easy to use my scrap paper. Infact I hardly had to cut new paper pieces!:-D

I have a large plastic green accordian file from the Target $1 aisle that I use. I have only been stamping for 2 months and so far it isn't full yet. lol
