Default Need help with feeling guilty!

Oh boy...I don't have a DH to get on me about spending money on stamps, but I'm sure good about putting the guilt on myself! I think this must qualify as addicted with no hope of going back! I placed a $350 order tonight....all for myself! Of course I had to spend $350 so I would get the extra $25 in hostess benefits!

Now I feel guilty about placing it all for myself and so much!!! I think I'm going to end up with 15 stamp sets plus accessories! And here I keep telling my son that I'm broke when he asks for something...I wonder why??!!! (by the way...he is in no way deprived, but probably one of the most spoiled kids I know!)

Please help me justify this so that I can sleep tonight!

Well, look at it this way. You've already sent it in so you can't cancel it. May as well suck it up sister and enjoy your order as much as you can! He he or you could always sell some of it off!!!!!!!!

OR sell the kids and you'll have lots of money and more time to stamp!!!!!

Hey...at least I'm not one of those moms that spends money on booze and drugs! Stamping is good clean fun...right?!

Default Stamps or the new gameboy

I was laughing so hard because today I had our three at Kohl's and they wanted these stuffed animals for $5 a piece. Well times 3 that's a stamp set so of course I said no.

we're leaving for vacation next friday so now he (our 8 year old) wants the new gameboy systems because it's better than the one he's had for the past 3 years. afterall, it's only $100 plus another $50 for accessories I'm sure. he thinks i should use some of my stampin profit to support his habit!

So I say stamps or gameboy? STAMPS it is!!!!!!!!!!

Default It won't be long

It won't be long Heather. My girls are 1 and 3 and even though my 1 year old doesn't speak in great english she certainly makes her wishes known.

our 8 year old plays with his gameboy everyday and now he has daddy convinced that the new one would be better for his eyesight and daddy thinks we'd save money not havign to buy batteries!

Men or should I say, "Boys and their toys"

Default That's what friends are for!

And just think, this site is much cheaper than Stampers Addiction Therapy. I heard they don't even have a cure yet!

It's so funny to hear us try to 'justify' ourselves. I don't know what I would do if I had a daughter (we have 3 boys). My DH and 2 of the boys LOVE to shop, especially for shoes! I justify (in my head~no need for him to know how much I spend) my craft stuff because its always cheaper then my DH's shirts and shoes! I can't take our almost 3 year old near a Nordstrom because he won't leave if he dosen't get shoes! I know he doesn't get it from me ~ he does clap if he hears the UPS man coming down the street so I must be doing something right!

If you can't over come your guilt - you can always donate the stamps to a good 'cause, and I'm willing to except them 'cause the majority of my stamp sets are now retired. The problem with having such a limited number of current sets is it puts a serious crimp in my demonstrating style.

I did the same thing! I placed my order last week, after having it saved and thinking about it for a couple of days. I've never placed an order that large at one time for just myself, but it was fun!

My DH had to put me on a budget!!!!! Ahhh the very thought of that makes my skin crawl!!
But...I will admit...I am a TOTAL stamp-aholic!!! But I am always trying to justify my "needs" for the business! I love that part of it. I can usually get a good bit of accessories that way.
My DH says that if I "chill" a little...he will finish the rest of the basement for my craft/stamping room for Christmas! Now...I would love that, but can you imagine what all I could buy with that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My DH has watched my stamping "stuff" take over more & more of the house. He knows I'm spending a lot, just doesn't know exactly how much. He didn't put up much of a fuss when I told him I had to place a $150 order on the 19th (new toys, ya know ). I remind him of his hobbies when he does have a tantrum.......woodworking (have you ever priced table saws, drill presses, air cleaner systems, lathes, chop saws, need I go on??? And he isn't happy until he has the top of the line, either! ), RC cars & trucks, sewing (yes, sewing....he has 4 different machines    ). At least stamping is a reasonably priced hobby!

I know so many people that placed big orders to get that extra $25. I'm right in there also. In fact, I decided that for an extra $50 I would get my total to $400 and then receive the hostess appreciatin set for this quarter. It will make a nice door prize at my open house on Tuesday.

I am lucky though. I had flagged many pages in my new catalog as things I want to purchase. Hubby came downstairs to talk to me and noticed it. He asked what it was. I sheepishly told him that it's my wish list but not to worry because I wouldn't be ordering everything. Just enought to get me to $150. At which point he said, "I don't care how much you spend. You want it, you enjoy it, just get it. Is it smarter to purchase it all at once or little by little?" Well, I didn't get all of it, but I think my $400.75 order (with the free hostess set and a level 2 set and $70 in free merchandise) will hold me over for a little while.

Yeah...I know...he's a keeper!

I have been LOL as I read this string....

I too placed a $400 order last week on stuff for ME!!! I felt guilty, but I had been saving my pennies knowing that the new catty was coming!! My box of goodies will be here Thursday and I am already planning on packing all of the new stamp sets out of this order and taking them with us on vacation next week, and as my hubby drives I will be assembling them!!

Then I will be anxious to get home and stamp stamp stamp!!

I am glad to know I am not the only addict~~it's always good therapy to log on to SCS!!

Hehehe! I placed a $400 (same excuse as everyone else, $350 for the $25, but the extra $50 for the quarterly hostess special.) And to be honest I don't feel a bit guilty. Okay, so I have been saving and spent all but $19 out of my business account. DH knows that I usually only spend out of my business account so he doesn't worry too much. I haven't had to challenge him by comparing my stamping spending with his beer (pub brewery) spending. At least I can use my stamps and accessories multiple times, unlike beer being a one shot deal!

Try not to feel guilty. You give of yourself many, many ways, this is therapy for the mind, body and soul.

This is so comforting and hilarious. To know there are so many more like me out there. I truely do believe that stamping is a healthy craft! I use my left brain all day and my right brain at night (or is it the other way around, I can never remember). Anyway, it's a proven fact that when you excersize your brain, you maintain better health! Plus, I agree with NY Nan, just think of all those people we make smile when they open one of our cards that was made with love.

This sure is a fun thread to read! Comforting, as someone else said.

I don't feel guilty for spending the $$ when I place a big order, I feel guilty b/c I already have SO MUCH STUFF! At least half of my stamp sets haven't been touched in a year! Might sound crazy, but it's true. I end up using my newer ones and the older ones get left behind. Does this happen to anyone else?

OK sewing machine? Husband?! That's awesome!
And, oh how I hear you on the woodworking tools!! Last year on his bday DH asked for a jointer planer. Oh yeah.....$800 Cdn?! For a b'day gift?! (He's miffed because for 2 years running we celebrated my b'day in Mexico!) Told him I'd pay half. He still hasn't gotten one!!

;)
This year though, he's getting one. I'll still pay for half.......then I can justify spending the same on an order for me!

WOW! Thanks for making me feel better! I'm glad to see there are other crazy stamping women out there other than me!

It is therapy...but the most fun is opening the box right after UPS drops it off! Sometimes looking through everything is more fun that actually using it!

Now I get to stalk the SU website to check to see when my order goes into picking! Then the UPS site...then the UPS guy! Sometimes I forget that UPS delivers stuff other than SU packages!

Cant wait!!!

LOL, guys, this thread is great! I've been feeling some "buyer's remorse" over getting the starter kit, but you know what? I spent a lot of time SAVING the money to do that. It was a goal that I worked towards. Lucky me that I had enough by the time this new catty came out!!!! Now how to save up for my first big order.................

I am listening to all of you and I'm getting a knot in my stomach. I just moved to Indiana from Colorado and I have not found anyone to host a party yet. I haven't even made any friends to ask to a open house or stamp camp. I despretely want to place a $350.00 order to take advantage of the free $'s but I feel tooooooooooooo guilty. I figure I will be forced to place the order by the end of August, just to keep my demo status....right? Then I won't feel so guilty! Glad I figured that out. Thanks, girls!!

Moving can be soooooo traumatic and stamping is therapy! So, no reason to feel guilty - you're talking care of yourself!! Should we write you a "prescription" to make it official?

Monica,

I must be married to your brother's twin. My husband tells me all the time that he is so happy that I have found something I love so much and that he doesn't mind me spending time and money on stamping. Of course, he doesn't know exactly HOW much money I've spent on stamps! My first order when I became a demonstrator was just over $600!!! I NEEDED all the paper and ink pads and markers, not to mention stamps, so that I could demonstrate well. Hmmm, maybe I should demonstrate more and "hobby" less.

I have been holding off and haven't ordered anything from the new catalog yet. I am hosting an open house in two weeks so I guess I had better place an order soon. It will be tough, but I can do it.

I too have been saving money and scrimping to make my $350 order. I have to anyway to keep my demo status so I might as well spend a bit more and get more benefit from it. I already have my order started but I keep revising it. lol I keep going back and forth on what to spend my hostess benefits on. A stamp set or two or more paper. I think more paper and some ink. Dang! Now I need to go and change my order!
