I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to make get-well cards for a friend of mine who teaches bible school. A sweet little 6 year old girl named Katie (who is in her bible school class) has just been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.
She'll be starting chemo soon; she's losing her sight in one eye & also her hearing on one side of her head. Doctors are not giving a good prognosis currently.
If anyone would like to send a RAK to Katie to cheer her up, please send them to my attention, and I'll put together a basket of cards & goodies from SCS to Katie.
You're welcome to write your get-well wishes to Katie in the card.
If you're interested, please send the card to the following address:
Lisa Zappa
1057 Ashland Ave.
St Paul, MN 55104
I told my girlfriend about the awesome people on this website~she thought that Katie would LOVE to get cards!
And PLEASE everyone that reads this post check out the two children's charities listed at the bottom of my post and if you know a child that could benefit from these organizations please pass on the information.
They get cards once a week and also a birthday and Christmas gift.
I'll try to get my girls to help me make cards Saturday. We know of a 10 year old boy here in town who, at his 3-year check up from his last bout with cancer, has more spots up & down his spine. He's in the hospital for treatment. I will pray for sweet Katie!
Sending one your way as soon as I can pull on my boots and clomp through our new 6 inches of snow to the mailbox!
Please do keep us updated and bless you for being such a friend to Katie.
Someone who raked my cousin sent him one every day for a few weeks. I would like to send her about a weeks worth. Would you mind giving her address or will you see her regularly?
You guys are the best and you can count me in!

I will send a card over the weekend. I know all of the wonderful SCS stampers will be sending cards but if you would like Katie to receive even more there is a awesome volunteer site called Make a Child Smile - 9www.makeachildsmile.org0 that is a volunteer organization which sends cards to critically ill children, their siblings and parents. I know several people have asked what to do with all the cards they make - I send lots of mine to these kids.
I have thought and thought, but I can't figure out what RAK stands for? I am extremely tired this week (youngest son won't sleep good when his dad is out of town), so maybe it's obvious...
RAK in an acronym for Random Acts of Kindness. It's sending a card, or something, to someone to brighten their day. Generally, the recepient does not know they are getting anything until they are surprised in the mail.
Thank you guys SO much! My Mom just went to Target last night & bought a bunch of goodies for Katie to play with during chemo. I'll post the basket of goodies we put together with all the cards in it once I receive them all.
