I've reserved a room at the Rec center for Saturday, April 2nd from 10a.m. until 4p.m.
I am in Hamel, IL. It's a small country town about 25 miles NE of St.louis. Have you ever heard of Edwardsville, IL. Hamel is basically a part of Edwardsville (just a little in the country). I have heard of Lincoln, but never been there.

I'm in Harvard and as per mapquest I'm about 2 1/2 hours north of you. I might be interested if there is lodging near that I could crash at after a fun filled day of stamping!! Keep me posted if you decide to do this and when, alot will depend on the DH's schedule. He is a Firefighter and works 24 hour shifts. But I would love to try!!
I'd be interested. I'm in Champaign (Univ. of Illinois) and am about 2 hours south of Chicago, 2.5 hours east of Peoria, and about 3.5 (?) hours north of Carbondale.
Of course, I have no idea what a "shoebox gathering" is, but I'm always game to play!!
Hi Stampin'wife!
I am originally from Alton and travel through the lovely little town of Hamel every trip home! I was just in Alton/Hamel over the weekend. Stopped at the Shell station on way in and outta town. Just wanted to stop in and say hi to my illini buddies!
We live in Bloomington and Heyworth IL---just down the road from you. We have about 10 in our little group and I'm sure several of us would be interested.
Hey Stampinwife - I am in Collinsville. Maybe we could carpool to this little shindig. My friends used to live in Hamel. They just move a couple months ago.
Collinsville is about 2 hours from Lincoln.

Hi Fellow Illinois Gals,
I just posted a get together Announcement for Illinois Scs-ers on 3/12 in the announcements. Go take a peek.
(This get to gether is in the NW Suburbs of Chicago.)
~Bev
Nice to meet you irolstamper and skydiverwife. It's kind of cool that two of you know where Hamel is. Next time you stop through Hamel irolstamper, we'll have to catch up at the shell and meet each other. As for you skydiverwife...Collinsville! WooHoo! You are only 10 minutes from me. Are you a SU Demo? We will have to get together sometime and have some fun! Happy Stampin for now! Dawn S.
What are your friends (from Hamel) names skydiverwife? If you don't mind me asking...

I'm in Carrollton, IL...it is about 2 hours from Lincoln...actually I used to live in Mason City for a year...and Randi, I grew up in Collinsville...I would definitely be interested.
It sounds like Bev Barton's 3/12 gathering will be a great one for those of you in the Chicago area - I encourage you to look at it.
For any of you still interested in a "Shoebox" gathering here in Lincoln, I'm still willing to organize it. "Shoebox" meaning (my definition for this one) each participant would bring a shoebox (or tub or whatever you need for transportation of materials) with all the supplies needed for each of us to make whatever you're supplying. I am not a SU demo. It is open to anyone.
I think after March sometime would be safe, weather-wise. And probably on a Saturday to be able to include anyone that works.
Any other suggestions are welcome.
Lincoln has a wonderful Recreation Center - two miles from where I live. I'm going to see what they charge for renting a room.
My friends in Hamel are Cody and Gayla Kreamalmeyer. They go to our church and their son is in our youth group.
Stampinwife - if you have any fun events coming up let me know - I would love to get together. I have an open house that I am doing in Granite City on Saturday. Should be great. Keep in touch.
I am a demo and would be interested in something in Licoln with enough notice. Is Miliken up there? That is where some of the kids that graduated from my youth group go to school. I thought it was in Lincoln. Maybe there is a classroom there that we could use.
Please keep me informed.

Hi Fellow Illinoisians!
My name is Ellen and I live in Troy. I have been a demo for almost five years. Randi, I grew up in Collinsville, so I was a Purple and White Kahok.
Have friends and fellow demos in Edwardsville, Alton, Bethalto, Moro. Randi, who is your upline? My upline is no longer nor is her upline but Lisa Masters is my third level and she has great quarterly meetings. We just had one last weekend.
What is a Shoe Box? Sounds interesting, I live in La Grange Park (15 miles out of Chicago) and my stampin' buddy Aileen lives in Brookfield (next town to me). I think that we'd be up for a road trip!!!
What a nice idea!
I'm from Monmouth, Il. in West Central Illinois. Would need ample advance time.
For the Harvard Gal, I'm an 'often visitor' in your nice little town. Love that big 'ol cow!
This is really nice to find out how close you gals are. I am in Aurora and my SIL (stampinGA3) is too! It would be awesome to get together to stamp! I hope the invitation stays open for the near future!
I'm also in Aurora, but grew up downstate so I'm used to the road trip! Keep me in the loop and I'll come if I can! Maybe some of us from the 'burbs can carpool...

Would love to have you - but be sure to check out Bev Barton's SCS gathering found on the Announcement Forum - it's much closer to you. Or you could do both!
Ellen, my upline is Denise Bulhofner in Lebanon. There is a big group that gets together but I haven't been able to make one yet. I think Kathy Alt is the head of the group (although i seem to get letters from so many people welcoming me into the group). Also, Christi Watson is in Collinsville. I went to some stuff that she had. I am not sure who her upline is. I have only been a demo for about 4 months so I am still learning.
Let me know if you have anything fun coming up. I may be interested.

I'm at Scott AFB. I'm really close to O'Fallon/Belleville/Fairview Heights. I would love to to a day trip! I must be really dense though, even after reading your explanation of what a "shoebox" event is I still don't get it. Would we prepare a project for everyone to make and then rotate so every one makes each others projects? I don't care if we exchange socks, I would just love to get out of the house(LOL)!! Winter can be such a drag.
So Rebecca, Ellen, Stampinwife and I can all come together! Yeahhhhh
Sounds like fun.
Rebecca, a shoebox is like a swap only you bring the stuff to make the cards and everyone gets to make your "make-n-take" instead of just bringing cards to swap. The "shoebox" is what you would bring all of your supplies in. Hope that helps.

With enough notice, I'd sure plan on being there! I'm outside of Peoria, but my upline (ddphelps) is in Lincoln. I am a demo, but I haven't done anything like this yet. So I'd need instructions as far as what we can use and so forth. I get the "shoebox" part, just would basically need to know what I can or can't use, and what kind of make-n-takes we can do.

ddphelps is my demo and my friend. Great gal. I imagine she'll be involved with this some way or another. She's very busy.
What's everyone's opinion on what supplies to bring in our shoebox? I think I'd like to ask if we could bring SU if possible, but other things of quality would be fine as well. (Not trying to sound snobby.)
Sue
I would be interested also if I can get it off of work. I am from DeKalb and about 2 1/2 hours away. It takes me 2 hours to get to Normal and about 6 to get to the Pinckneyville area.
I am just outside of Champaign and I would love to come too...like everyone else said, with plenty of planning time! Would everyone who comes need to have a make-n-take? I mean, if 30 people come, are we doing 30 make n takes? Just trying to clarify!

Rebecca, I copied the following "Shoebox" description from the Dayton, Ohio's gathering coming up in March.
"You design a card or scrapbook page. Then, you provide the materials for x number of people to create that card. Inside the box: include directions, cut and scored cardstock, cut cs embellishments, any other embellishments (ribbons, eyelets, etc.), anything a person needs to complete the card - aquapainter, heat gun, eyelet setter, etc. So, if 30 people are coming, you would put enough materials for 30 cards. You can separate them into Ziploc bags. You don't have to use a shoebox. Any container will work. Make sure you bring your own monoadhesive."
I don't think we'll have 30 people but if we are so fortunate, and that many is a hindrance for you, I'd be willing to help you with getting your card supplies together.
If any of you are still interested, please either pm me or send me an email with your SCS name, your real name, and your address. Also let me know your preference as to what month to have this: March or April. I will then make a list on here of everyone that wants to participate. I have a few ideas to make the day fun and they will be forthcoming.

I'm in Champaign also, so maybe we four could carpool to this super-fun event! Often times the drive is half the fun when you have a car full!!
