It's time to start a new thread for the year 2017. I am sorry to report that I ended up the year 2016 in the red. There are always new and exciting stamps and toys to buy and we are certainly a bunch of enablers here on SCS. I have also noticed that I spend more time on SCS and Pinterest than I do on creating cards and artwork. I firmly intend to change that this coming year. Starting in the month of February, Kathy, Sharon and Jan will be taking turns with me in presenting weekly challenges, so get ready for some new and exciting perspectives.
REMEMBER: There are NO SET RULES. This is all about helping you be more aware of your spend -to-use ratio.
THE CONCEPT: Determine how much you want to PAY yourself for the following: (These are just examples. Brainstorm what works for you)
How much will you pay yourself for: 1 double pg LO 5 cards (basic matting/ embossing/ embellishment) 5 ATCs 1 Altered Item 1 Premium Item (think explosion cards or intricate items) 1 Challenge (there are a lot of great threads on this Forum) 1 VSN event 1 Meet-Up event 1 Updated Creative Blog Post 1 Gallery Upload (this is one DAY - not Item. You upload Mon - Fri. you get 5 credits.) Participating/ completing a swap or RAK
Some people also pay themselves for non-stamping items (things they need a little extra incentive for)
1) working out 2) losing a pound 3) eliminating a bad habit (credit per day) 4) for each book read
How will you keep track? Some people (like me) have used an account book. Others have designed Excel sheets to keep track on their computer. It's up to you whether you carry the totals over from last year or not. Every week, I and my team will be posting a challenge to get you inspired and get your creative juices flowing. Let's have a productive and fiscally smart 2017.

Thanks Kathy. I don't have a cat, so I have to post a photo of myself.Lynn, I already earned myself a free stamp set from sale-a-bration. And I have also found two stamp sets from the Occasions catty that I want, and possibly a die set, so that will earn me another stamp set.

It has not been a quiet night! Lol!! The trio are having a party... A quad of kids came over to borrow mugs so they could make hot chocolate! I gave them the two non breakable mugs from a big coffee chain.. I don't think I will ever get them back! Lol
Thank you Ina! And thank. You for keeping this challenge going! I will figure my totals this afternoon. I didn't sleep well last night...so am moving slow getting ready for church.
So good to see you around, Kelly! Hi Lynn, Kathy; has Jan made it over here yet?
My son texted to see if I saw Mariah Carey perform last night. Apparently a big mess. I quit listening to her a long time ago. She got to be too much of a diva and I saw interviews that turned me off. I can't seem to separate the artist with the person, so I just don't listen to her anymore. Kind of like I feel about Miley Cyrus. I didn't watch the voice this year with her as a judge. I do pray for her at times. Makes me cry to see her transformation. And her dad? Billie Ray was Awesome in Doc. That was such a clean, caring show. Wish it were still on.
Kathy I was just reading about her, such a diva, can't bear her at all, same with madonna, used to like her music but she's an embarrassment nowadays.
We find we are totally turned off programmes by who is starring in them, even if reviews are good if we don't like the person in it we just can't watch the programme.
Just made an order with Amazon, a poinsettia bigz die, a hearts nesting die and an oval accordion pop up die, the only thing I wanted was the Tim holtz frosted film, will take a trip to michaels next week and have a look,
The trio had a big kids party last night...I wonder if I should go over and see if the mom is still standing! LOLOL I don't know how I used to be able to do that stuff!

You were younger then. I couldn't keep up with kids now if my life depended on it.
You soon get back into the swing of youngsters, they wear you out but they are fun, you just have to make the most of any quiet time, building up your strength at any opportunity.
They went for a bike ride with mum and dad while we finished the dinner, which was very tasty, we bought chocolate eclairs for afters, they were scrummy, Joey took one bite and said he didn't like them, couldn't believe it.
Well ladies, here's our first challenge of 2017! I found aweb site that unveils some really obscure celebration days, and today is 'Run it up the Flagpole' day. Here's what it says:Run it Up the Flagpole to See if Anyone Salutes Day is set aside to allow people to do just that. Be creative today. Use this day to try and test new ideas and concepts. Don't limit the ideas to business applications. In your personal life, try out a new dress or clothing style, perhaps a different haircut. Or, maybe buy a new houseflag and run it up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes...or even notices.
So I am asking you to try something new and see if it works. A new technique, a new fold, a new colour combo, etc I founda new fold last evening on You tube. A video by Dawn Griffith. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZz9BgM4ixw So I tried it and it was really easy. What 'new' thing are you going to try this week?

Morning, it's been raining overnight so it's cold and cloudy, hopefully it will brighten up as we promised we would take the boys on their bikes to the park. We are drinking our tea in peace as they are both sleeping still, back to school tomorrow so it will be an early start.
Jan, thanks for your comment on my sample challenge card. I agree with you, I don't use orange and yellow very much either.............don't even like them in my flowerbeds. But last evening when I tried that fold, I cut the white paper and scored it, before I realised that it was the back side of a patterned paper. So, seeing as the fold worked, I decided to go with it.Kathy, I love that you also did that fold, and I love your card!
