I decided I should finally post an introduction. I have been a member for awhile, but life has gotten in the way the past year. My name is Jessica, and a Texan but transplanted to Oregon for the past ten years, but am now in the jungle of Brazil teaching English. Stamping and SCS are my havens when the new culture get too overwhelming. I am reminded that there is still existence away from here! I am truly inspired by all of the talent here and have learned so much already and look forward to much more.
Welcome, Jessica! Glad that SCS is there for you in the jungle!
I, too, am curious about how you ended up teaching in Brazil. (I'm also a teacher...4th graders.)
You're in the rainforest, and here I sit in the suburbs...You can post about your exotic adventures, and we can live vicariously through you!
How neat, my SIL lives in Brazil and is a teacher too. I have so many pictures from there. I am just dying to visit. It is such a beautiful place. DH's uncle lives there too. Maybe one day I will get to visit!

ooooooo, I bet Brazil is warm this time of year . I'm in central Minnesota and the wind is howling this morning. I too hope you post some exotic stories about the beautiful country you're in. Have you posted anything to the gallery yet?
Carol
Thank you all for the welcome. I will try to answer some of your questions.
I came to Brazil to help a missionary friend of my families, who operates a seminary here. I am teaching English and also doing some computer work for him. I made a 2 year commitment, but was only given a 1 year visa, with the possibility of an extension, so who knows how long I will stay.
In Oregon, I lived in Scappoose, about 20 miles west of Portland on Hwy. 30 towards Astoria.
Yes, it is very hot here and humid. I have been hearing about all the cold weather there in the states, and am very jealous!
I have not posted anything in the gallery yet, but will soon. My parents are here visiting right now and don't leave for another week, so right now my house not operating normally.
I will be happy to share stories. I send out a monthly newsletter. If you would like to be included, PM you email to me and I will add you.
