Hey everyone! I cannot believe I just typed 2016 for the first time - where does the time go?
First, happy recent birthday to our fabulous Audrie! Audrie is amazing and I hope I can partially fill her shoes today.
We have a handmade or re-gift only Christmas in my family and so I'm always looking to Etsy for inspiration for my own handmade gifts, and this year I ran across a shop I just loved, called The Wildlands.
The owner describes the art like this: "Our art is a fusion of the two styles, traditional watercolor, combined with contemporary graphic art. "
I love the combination of atmospheric watercolor with bold shapes, and so that's where we'll get our inspiration today. Use punches or die cuts for your basic shape, as I've done, and then pick a favorite medium and several colors to get that beautiful confetti effect that is their signature. Or just pick one of the images or one of their color combos for inspiration.
Here's one of my cards:
And the other one is attached in the thumbnails.
I also included a video on how I made these for you. I chose watercolor - but you can do ink, markers, pastels - anything you want.
Challenge Goals: Please don't be tempted to upload a card that you have made prior to this challenge, just because an image on the board reminds you of it. :cool: Rather, take the challenge of allowing your creative juices to flow based on your impressions when you look through the images. Remember, it can just be the color palette or style that ignites your creativity. Whatever draws you to the designs, take the challenge of doing something uniquely inspired today.
Overwhelmed with having too many images to choose from? I've uploaded 10 of my favorites! So just stick with one (or all) of those for your inspiration. Click on the images below to see them bigger and to get their links on SCS. Don't forget to let us know which photo served as your inspiration piece please in your description.
How to Play ~ View the attached images. You may be inspired to recreate the pieces ~ but that isn't necessary ... get your inspiration from the colors, layout, style or 'theme'. Just enjoy wherever your inspired creative journey takes you. Remember, if you are inspired by the creation of another artist, please do not use print-outs of the art in your creation or directly copy their work. Make the inspiration piece your own. Don't worry ~ no card is 'wrong' and there is no time limit for uploading your card for the challenge. There are no rules, so let your creative juices run wild ~ be *inspired* and go get stamping!
Don't forget about No Upload Sunday - Let's give the gallery moderators a day off and not upload on Sunday (unless, of course, you are a Fan Club member - yet another reason to spend a little money on your favorite site). Also, remember to link to your SCS gallery on this thread. Thank you for joining me on this inspiration journey.

The picture I had in my head was much better than this. Giggles ... it was a very interesting website - I may take more time later to look into it more. I chose the City-scape out of the bottom choices for us.

Happy Birthday Audrie :-) Thank you so much Lydia for filling in for our very talented Audrie. LOVED your video. I hope to play soon. I have been practicing my watercoloring so this will fit right into different techniques I have been playing with...I have been splattering, but not tried the die cut or punched image and splattering technique. Way Cool!!! Thanks again girls. You are both so inspiring :-) Big Squishy Hugs, Nancy
Happy New Year everyone!! Thank you Lydia for a great inspiration site, and for sharing your wonderful tutorial! I'll be getting that frog tape shortly - what an awesome masking tool! I didn't have a very good mask so did the best I could - here's my card: {Celebrate You!!}

Inspirational art at Wildlands! So much of it reminded me of the effects I've seen with powdered ink (i.e. the new Brushos I just got for Christmas) that I couldn't resist trying mine.
Folks, this is my sad attempt to participate in Lydia (Understand Blue) Saturday Inspiration Challenge, IC526. Water coloring is not my forte; however, I wanted to give it a shot. So this is the end result. Lydia, your related video is fantastic. Thank you for hosting this challenge. I was inspired by a butterfly piece of artwork on The Wildlands site. Oh, I didn't have my tape adhered correctly and there is paint bleed! (Lydia, you shared that we needed to be careful with that :(!)
