Welcome to the Hope You Can Cling To! Lots of challenges for you and a ton of cards for cancer patients and their families. Don't forget to mail those cards!
This challenge is meant to get the kids involved. I'm sure kids struggle with a family member who has cancer. Maybe they don't understand what cancer is or don't know why their parent has to visit the hospital for treatments.
Kids, your challenge is to make a card representing something your mom loves. A favorite food, a favorite pet or animal, even a favorite color. You can even make a card representing how you feel about your mom.

Any suggested alternatives for those of us who don't have kids around?
I'm going to try to get my kids to make one, but I'm going to make one too using stuff my mom likes.

I think just making one with things that your mother loved would be appropriate.
I also think maybe making one for kids would work too or if you have kids-flip it so you're making something that they would love. Try to follow the spirit of the challenge if you can't follow the letter of it ;)

Great suggestions, Gail, just what I was going to say! I had my kids make cards, but I want to make one to honor my mom as well... she loves butterflies and hummingbirds.
No little hands around here. My mother has been dead for decades. So I just did a generic card. This challenge was a surprise to me...saw the BONUS on the Master List, but missed this one. Oh, well.
Andi, this is a terrific challenge. I even called my mom to ask her what kind of card I could do that she would like because she loves all my cards so I could not decide. So thank you mom for the help...here is the card:
I am so sorry if there was confusion with this challenge.
I guess in my mind, we are all somebody's kid and I didn't clarify well enough. I thought it was ironic I got this challenge as I don't have any 2-legged children.
Either get your kids involved, be the kid or as one post said, she is making a card for a child with cancer (which I thought was awesome).
Do we have to do this challenge? My kids don't craft. I could make a card using a painting my son made for me... but that isn't what this challenge calls for. I dont want to not make the queens list because I missed this one heh.

If you read back through the thread you'll find a lot of alternate plans/ideas.

Hi Rachael,
You can definitely play along! If your kids are grown or they are not interested in playing, or if like me, you don't have kids, be the kid. Another idea is to make a card in honor of your mom. If that is too difficult, make a card for a kid. Lots of ideas to choose from; I would hate for you to miss out on this challenge.
No children in my life.
I feel your pain, Brenda! So sorry this is upsetting for you. I was at a loss too. I've decided to make a card my Mom would have liked.

My DD is part of Befrienders, an organization that pairs seniors with college kids in Bozeman, MT. She just recently went to an Ice Cream Social with her senior, and they had a great time- and so in honor of her and every mom with a sweet tooth, here's HYCCT1527KIDS Mom's Ice Cream

My mother loved roses and always had a rose garden that she would tend to. Her favorites were red roses - but this was the closest I could come to that color.

I made a card of what my mom likes. My kids are swamped with school work and another is away for a few days at a retreat. Thank you for this challenge. It was fun reflecting on what my mother loves.
I had a hard time with this card but when it came time to tackle it once the idea formed it ran like water downhill! I started to cry while making it because if I could have made this card for my mom when she was alive she would have liked it a LOT and all the little hidden meanings. Hope you like it.
