CLOSED - PA -Towanda/Wysox: NEPA Stamp & Swap - October 1, 2016
NEPA Stamp & Swap -How Sweet It Is Saturday, October 10, 2015
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Wysox Presbyterian Church
22953 RT 187
Wysox, PA 18854
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS 5PM ON OCTOBER 8, 2016
Youre invited to join our 1st NEPA Stamp & Swap, a day of stamping, friendship & fun! We have a lot planned so please read everything & if you have any questions, PLEASE ASK! This forum will be our main way of communicating including the final numbers and other information for the event. Its a good idea to check-in here even after the event is closed.
The theme for our event is How Sweet It Isthink candy, desserts, sweets! Its not mandatory but you can include the theme in your shoebox project or any of the swaps. We will be having a contest so you put on your thinking caps & enter your project(s). Attendees will be voting for their favorite sweet!
COST $25.00 per person. Registration must be paid no later than 5 pm on Saturday, September 12. This will allow 4 weeks to prepare!
***The registration form is attached at the end of this post***
Mail your registration form and payment to Lou Ann McGuire (address is on the form). There are NO REFUNDS, but you may offer your spot to someone else. Your registration is complete when your payment is received. If you have any questions, please ask! You may wonder "what does $25 get me?" It gets the venue, bottled water, paper products, and a small gift bag, plus a fun day with some really great people, a chance to use new ideas, products and enjoy our hobby. All funds collected will be spent on the event.
So heres the plan:
MANDATORY SHOE BOX (TABLE) PROJECT Bring your idea and all the supplies (precut but not pre-stamped or pre-punched) needed for XX people to make your project the day of the event. Since this is our 1st event we may split into morning & afternoon groups depending on the number of people attending. You'll have this information at deadline time. QUALITY PRODUCTS ARE MANDATORY. There are several threads that discuss the quality of swaps. Please read them if you are unsure. ALL the shoebox projects will be set out in the morning. You will proceed, in "round robin" fashion, to each of the projects and do XX. YOU will move, YOUR PROJECT will not. GOOD DIRECTIONS WILL NEED TO BE POSTED BY YOUR SHOEBOX, you will not demo or be around for everyone to ask questions. Remember to include your name & SCS name on your directions. When our final count is in, you will know how many kits to make. You will need to bring TWO extra completed shoebox projects (which includes 1 hostess thank you and one for your table so that everyone can follow it for directions). This project will generally be a full card, with layers and embellishment(s) or a simple 3D item. Please provide any special adhesive that's needed. Make these something youd be thrilled to get yourself. When you know what your shoebox project is, please post a name for it here or send me a PM. We will all have a check off list the day of the event. Projects should take NO MORE THAN 5-10 minutes to complete. If you are unsure, time someone else doing your project. You should also bring extra parts to fix any "oopies".
*********************************************** PLEASE MAKE UP 16 KITS!!! PLUS 2 COMPLETED!
***********************************************
SWAPS You must participate in ONE swap. Youll know how many to make when we post the final counts. The deadline will allow 4 weeks to prepare for the event:
ATC Swap Final Count =XX Info in Post #5.
Sympathy Card Swap - Final Count = XX Info in Post #6.
Recipe Swap Final Count =XX - Info in Post #7.
SU! Demo Quality Swap Final Count = XX - Info in Post #8.
Card Candy Swap Final Count Group 1 = XX; Group 2 = XX - Info in Post #9.
CONTEST We want to see How Sweet It is! We will have an area set up to enter your shoebox project, your swap(s) or any other project you've made but it needs to have a sweet theme. I suggest making an additional item since votes will be cast through lunch. The winner will be announced prior to the end of the event. Cant wait to see what everyone comes up with!!
FOOD there is a refrigerator. Please indicate on the registration form the specific food item you will bring to share. Ideas- breakfast items, lunch items, including salads, desserts and snacks. We love to try your homemade food specialties! Bottled water will be provided; please bring your own soda, etc.
DOOR PRIZES - our goal is to have something for everyone. Donations for door prizes are welcome.
GIFT SWAP - This is not mandatory but if you would like to participate, bring a gift related to our stamping passion. Everyone who brings a gift to swap will also leave with one. Value on these should be in the $5-10 range, and stamped projects are always appreciated! If its something youd like to take home, its probably perfect! Be sure to include your name somewhere inside so the lucky winner knows who to thank. Wrap it up prettily so itll be a surprise until were done swapping. REMEMBER: Stamping-related!!!
EMBOSSING AREA We will have areas set up with a heat tool & a Big Shot for embossing/cutting so no need to bring your own. You will need to bring the embossing powders for your project with a tray/paper plate, etc. or embossing folders/dies for your project.
NAMETAGS Since we all want to make new friends, please bring a name tag & include your SCS name if you have one. Stamped handmade name tags are beautiful & fun to see how creative we can get but we will have generic name tags available too.
OTHER Please bring your own labeled items for your personal stamping needs, including LOTS of your favorite adhesive. These are the items you just cant stamp without, like: bone folder, paper cutter/scorer, scissors, straight edge, stamp cleaner! Don't forget your camera!
Complete the registration form and forward with your $25 payment by OCTOBER 8th

Card Candy – this swap will be 4-8 items, depending on the size, placed on a piece of velum or wax paper then adhered to a piece of cardstock (to make it sturdy) OR a piece of acetate. They don’t have to be strictly paper you can crochet tiny flowers or make them from fabric, etc. They should have some layers and embellishments (bling, brads, Crystal Effects, etc.). All pieces can be the same or a variety of pieces that go well together. Use a tiny glue dot or removable adhesive dot to adhere each piece to the velum/wax paper. To keep it uniform the card should be placed in a 4 X 6 cello bag with a topper. If you find they don't all fit on the front, some can be place on the back or use 2 bags. For clarification please use this link to a video that explains what card candy is & how to assemble it for a swap https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgRgkRqmmAY . You can also visit Pinterest for ideas. Depending on number of people participating this may be divided into groups:

Bumping this up! I will do the Card Candy swap for something different than my usual swaps.
Just went upstairs to Craftyland and found all my "Sweet" stamps and started playing with an idea for card candy. Couldn't find the candy patterned paper I had so maybe I already used that up. I do have a couple of months to find it though! This will be fun to play around with since I'm bored with myself and caught up with Binghamton swaps.

I want to let everyone know that I can't update any of my posts. I've sent an email to SCS & PM'd the admin but haven't heard anything back yet. Hope the problem is corrected soon! Until then as I receive registrations I'll let each person know in a new post.

Thanks to Lydia the problem's been fixed! I'll start adding people to the swaps.
