Yes, I vary but try to keep them clean and not too vibrant.
I have noticed people really like purple but not the bright colours - a muted purple tone always sells well for me.

Also, make sure you sell some items that are not specifically geared for xmas so people can also use it for a birthday or other gift. Sometimes, I will ahve a xmas tag that is detachable for this purpose.
