Default change in the way Gina K sells paper

First to anyone that buys both Gina K and PTI paper are they the same in quality? I use to love to Gina K Pure Luxury CS but now it seems they no longer sell small variety packs - now everything must be purchased individually in 25 sheet packs...So here is my question... PTI offers smaller packs of individual paper colors in 15 sheets per pack for only 3 dollars, is PTI as good as Gina K's paper before choosing a new company to buy paper from I wanted to ask all the "experts" here? I don't see me ever changing from pure luxury White but for all the colors I can buy either a large variety pack from PTI or buy several packs of 15 sheets for a lot cheaper. Space is starting to become an issue in my crafting studio and need to know if changing companies will still provide me the best quality cardstock.

Many Thanks
Sheena

I think you can still get the variety packs:

Pure Luxury Card Stock Assortment

Double checking for you, though.

I posted this answer on STV....I'll post it here too so we can get any questions answered....

Hi Sheena! The Metallics (gold, silver, pearl) are sold in packs of 10 sheets for 6.50 for U.S. shipping. There are a few variety packs still of the color cardstocks, but mostly sold individually. There may be more variety packs added in the future. Hope that helps!

PTI is 110lb paper -- sturdy. Much sturdier than SU.

I have wanted to try Gina K cardstock and not that long ago I did see "seasonal" packs, and it looks like now there is only what would have been the autumnal combination. I wish they did offer smaller individual color packs to sample as I didn't really care for the pre-packed color schemes.

It does say on the site that the cardstock weight varies from 100 to 120 lb. So some colors may be a bit sturdier than PTI but don't know which ones or how many!

PTI is definitely on the heavier side for cardstock and holds up very well to more embellished style cards. I think you can't go wrong getting a sample to see for yourself. And every color is the same heavier weight.

The packs of 12 sheets are $3 :^) .

HTH!

Hi All!
Thanks for all the sweet comments about our card stock. We are glad to know that so many of you enjoy using it in your projects.

We do still have all six of our assortment packs. The photo shows our Autumn collection, however, when you click on it, all the other assortment photos come up.

I will have to change that so it makes more sense.

Here is the link and if you click on it, you will see all of the card stock assortments.
Pure Luxury Card Stock Assortment

I've attached a photo of our card stock to help you see it better. I'm going to update our site now.
Hugs,
Gina K.

Hi Gina :^) .

Thanks for explaining about the collections and that the photo shown was simply the link to all the others! I was really surprised when I thought there was only one collection on your site. Sounds like very good news for Sheena, the OP :^) .

Is there a really noticeable difference between the 100 and 120 lb cardstock?

Only our white comes in 120lb. All of our colors are either 100 or 110 lb. very subtle difference between the two and both make a fine card base even with embellishments.

Well, I know I *have* to try that white!!! I've heard only good things about all of your cardstock. Thanks for the info ~ it's always nice to know you're around to answer questions :^) .

Nancy, fair warning - once you try it, you'll have a hard time going back to whatever you were using. I was perfectly happy with my 110 lb Wausau Paper cardstock until I used the Gina K - now, when I think I'm making kind of a quick toss-away card and grab the old cardstock, I have a hard time making myself use it. Thank goodness I don't mind lighter weight layers.

Personally, I find PTI paper to be much too heavy. It's difficult to score, even with my score- pal. I have not tried Gina K's pure luxury - but PTI is simply to heavy for me.

I have had trouble with the PTI, even when properly scored there is sometimes cracking. Never had any trouble with Gina K cardstock and I use lots of the 120lb white and ivory. Scores beautifully and is, in my opinion, the best cardstock. I have also used the Gina K kraft, black, and brown and am just now getting into the colors. Wonderful stuff.

Thanks everyone. I didn't click on the link so I thought there was only 1 variety pack left and didn't realize it would open up and still offer all of them. I will be placing an order very soon...Luv the paper!!!

Deb....a little trick I've done that helps me in scoring thicker cardstock....I score my line 3-4 times, not just once. I also then use my bone folder/scoring tool and use it several times with a lighter hand than just once really heavy.

I am a fan of Gina K pure luxury white cardstock. I just recently ordered 2 packs and have use almost one of those already. I have never had any problem with scoring on my Score Buddy. I also like the PTI white too. They are different but sometimes you need the difference.

thanks for jumping in on this one, debzi! i can't bring myself to order anything from PTI because of the shipping costs to us canadian stampers. i think i'll hop off the fence though and order some gina k papers after all the nice reviews.

I don't have tons of GinaK cardstock (always end up buying stamps instead) but wanted to say that the metallics are absolutely gorgeous! I'm making a few holiday cards right now and am always amazed at how pretty those papers really are!

I have not tried Gina K's cardstock, but I do have PTI's cardstock and it is a very heavy paper. It is great for card bases but cannot be cut with the Silhouette cutter. I love my Silhouette use it a lot but even with 3 passes my blade won't cut through PTI cardstock! You can use dies with it, just not the Sil. Not sure about other cutters though.
just my 2 cents-I do want to try Gina K cardstock too.

I use GK Pure Luxury and it is what it say sit is. There's not a lot of "tooth" to it which means you can stamp clearly on it without little "hairs" as you find with cheaper cardstock. But, I have to admit the paper I have from other companies I still work with but I still reach in for the base weight for the card structure. It is so nice. Thanks for showing us how to use that link....i didn't see it either. Glad that is going to be changed!

i love the gina k 120 weights (ivory and white)...spoils you. use it for special cards and PTI rustic cream and white other times.....colors are my third choice.

i always want to get stamps from gina, but the sets dont grab me like those on PTI....i want them too though......

Gina's white paper is my absolute favorite but I've never tried the colors. PTI colors are awesome though!

I am a new user of this and I am so impressed with this paper -- it really is luxurious! All the raves about it are true and I am delighted to finally have some in my stash to work with.

I must admit that I am even more in love with the Gina K kraft tan, wowzer that paper is amazing to work with. And the color is a warm true kraft brown, not pinky toned like SU. Love it!

I'm a Canadian intrigued by this paper and see $5.95 shipping for orders over $50 for Canada. I couldn't find on the site how they ship to Canada - please, please, please say it is USPS and not Fedex or UPS.

For those of you who haven't yet ordered any of the Gina K. colored cardstock, I highly recommend it. It works great for card bases as well as the white. Plus, she has three beautiful purples which have filled the void that SU's color revamp left.
