Hey, I am fairly new to the Saint Louis area. I just moved here in May and so far have ZERO friends. I'm a SAHM and would love to get together and stamp sometime with some ppl from the area. I have my own stamp room hehee!! I am in the Shrewsbury/Webster Groves area!

Reason: adding state code to beginning of title
I just posted a message to anyone that wanted to get together in the St. Louis area. I'm there frequently from Rolla. I am preparing for surgery and will actually be there tomorrow (Friday) and am open in the afternoon. I know that's spur of the moment but I'm willing to drive to play with other stampers. I just got back from convention and have all the cool stuff from Salt Lake. Let me know if and when. Thanks in advance.
Ellen

Hi, I remember when I first moved here. I had a two year old and two teenage girls in a strange BIG BIG town. Matt and I would get in the van and drive until I was afraid of becoming lost then we'd backtrack. We started off in Clayton and before long we'd found a shopping center that was about the size of the town we'd moved from in South Dakota. Talk about culture shock. The two year old turns 24 next month and I'm not lost any more. In fact he went to school in Webster Groves. I'd love to hear from you. Fleurkid(Linda) [email protected]
I'm hear in St. Louis, not too far from Webster Groves. I live in South County. Leaving tomorrow for Disney World but will be home in a couple of weeks. I'm a SAHM too. Kids are in school. Husband used to work in WG.
i live about an hour outside of STL. i'm from litchfield, IL (mile-marker 52 on I-55). i'm in STL a couple times every month to go shopping 'n stuff. i'd love to get together & stamp! and i'm like lynn--have car, will travel!

I am just reading this and would love to get together with others who live near me. I live in Hazelwood near 270.
I now can't make it to the August group, (my SU group is meeting at the same time)I am definitely interested in joining the next one. I'd also be happy to host one, we have a clubhouse that has lots of space, I also could host at my house if needed.

I just saw this thread also, but Lynn your not to far from me. I'm not to far off Page in St. Ann.
I'd be game to go stamping with a group from St. Louis area. Weekends work best for me as hubby has to work weeknights.
I've actually been thinking of trying to put togeather a group to meet like once a month and stamp/scrap at each others houses, but I'm not sure I know enough girls who would actually do it on a regular basis. So if there is a group on here who would like to get togeather that would be great.
Barbie~ I know a few ladies, but I think we could probably generate some interest from this board here. I too think Saturday would be best, and I love the idea (BETH) of a monthly shoebox swap. Does anyone have any ideas on locations? I have searched high and low for "free" venues, but so far haven't had any luck.

WooHoo! I so want to get together and stamp with some STL ladies! I started this thread, but I just moved to Affton! I didn't get to attend the Stampede b/c I just had a baby. Weekends would be great for me!
I'm glad to hear you are 'ready' to stamp! Just so you know, there will be another Stampede November 18th. But, I would love to get something going on a regular basis. So far it looks like weekends would work best for most. Anyone out there have any suggestions for a location?

Congrats Jaala! I wondered if that was the reason we didn't get to see you.

If it didn't get too big, we could just rotate hosting in our homes . I have room in my basement with seating for 12; it ain't pretty down there, but it's clean (or would be! LOL) and it's FREE! I would be happy to host the first one! Sometime in late August, perhaps?
That would be great Beth ~ that is really generous of you...'cept I don't have a suitable place for ME to stamp, let along other people. I guess I could try to find somepleace when it came to my turn...

I don't know if the library is free, but I've heard of some other groups meeting there. Also, it is only like $50 - $60 to rent a room at the local community center, which depending on the number may make it only a couple bucks for each person.
We used to do a group that played a game called Bunko. ( don't know if anyones heard of it) But, we would get togeather each month at a diffrent members house, and you played for money and small prizes/gifts, and it was like $5 to play and there was 8 of us playing.

ooohh...this is getting exciting....are we REALLY going to finally get something set up? Who will be the first to step up? We can work out the other details as we go along. All we need is our first location and a date!
I am in Omaha NE and would love to be a part of this too.... well, after we move to Scott AFB, IL near O'Fallon, IL in late September. I would love to already have a small group of stampers to get together with right after I move there......
This is our 4th or 5th Air Force move in 10 short years - - - so I like to hit the ground running - as far as finding fellow stampers in my new area to stamp with
Marian
count me in after Sept 06
we will be looking for a home near O'Fallon, IL
I'm ready to host the first one! It will be the *perfect* excuse to tidy the basement...LOL! I do need to check with DH and his schedule before I throw out a date, but I am thinking a Saturday afternoon in August. I will have to limit it to 12 stampers. We can get it started and then if it grows we can check out other venues such as the library or community centers (even if they charge a fee, I would be totally willing to pay $5-10 to shoe-box swap).
I will post a date tomorrow.
That's great...thanks so much for stepping up. Count me in for sure! This will be lots of fun! And in the meantime, I'll be scoping out other venue for us, for when it's MY turn! YIPPEE!
Count me in as well. But, like Lynn I may need to look for another place to host at. I have the room but no good lighting. When I hosted a SU party everyone was complaining they couldn't see what they were doing, so that wouldn't be ideal for this. Unless I can convince hubby to install some lighting in the ceiling since we want a ceiling fan in the living room anyway.;)
I am sort of new to stamping, just signed up as A SU demo in Feb, so it would be great to stamp and learn new stuff from you creative ladies. I feel kind of stupid but what is a shoebox swap? I am in a MEGA CATTY SWAP but it is my first one. I am having so much fun making 116 card fronts.;)
I live in Kirkwood and Saturdays are ok for me, DH will just have to understand Are we talking once a month?
Well I must go and get my daughter ready and take my step son to his horse camp.
Shoe box swaps are where you assemble all the items together to do a full (or sometimes fronts only) card...all card stock is cut to size, embellishments are included, as well as ink, stamps, sometimes instructions, etc., into a baggie or in a pile. You make one sample card for the "spot" and you go from spot to spot making the card that is there. If there are 12 in a swap, then you make enough supplies to make 12 cards~ I hope that draws a mental picture for you.
Yes, it wouldn't be any more frequently than once a month. They are a great way to learn new techniques and get samples of sets you might not have.

Can I come???? Please, please please. I even know how to get there. LOL
Well I will volunteer for the second get together. I also have a set up in my basement for 12 or so ladies. If I clean off my tables we may be able to seat more. And don't let Beth fool you, her basement is very nice. (It has lots of stamping stuff!!!!!) That is all I need for a "nice" basement.
Dee
Okay, I'm slow, but wasn't gonna say so. But just to clarify, for myself, each person brings the supplies for everyone in the group to make a card like the one they made for the swap, and each person takes home the cards they made of the other peoples idea and supplies. Is that how it works? Unless of course I made it sound more complicated than I needed to.

aww, thanks Dee! You are too sweet! I really missed seeing you this past week in Collinsville. That whole storm/power thing really did a number on STL.
So can you come on the 12th???

Yep, you got it right.
It is like a stamp camp, where there are "stations" set up to make a card or project. The supplies are precut, and everything you need to make the project is there. You go from "station" to "station" making the cards. You go home with 12 completed projects.
The only difference is that instead of the demo hosting the stamp camp doing all the prep work of designing and cutting and providing supplies, each of us do that for our project that we bring. You get tons of different ideas and a chance to try out different stamp sets.
does that make sense?
