for something she read about on these discussion boards, and would never have bought otherwise....

I went into a craft store yesterday with the intention of picking up a cute stamping magazine, and *maybe* buying it. Somehow (?) I ended up parking myself in the aisle with the Xyron machines and not leaving the store without one.
Now, how did that happen?????
On a side note, I made a whole set sampler last night, and I am completely in love with this awesome machine!!
The laminator is not powered, or heated, or electric, which is handy. I thought it might not be as good because the big machines in the stores are heated. But they don't laminate my set samplers very well, there are always spots that don't stick, or bubbles that won't be heated with my heatgun and fixed. And I hate going to the store to laminate!
I got 40% off and bought the $20 laminating cartridge separately. The machine came with an adhesive cartridge. I simply have NO idea what to do with it... ideas are welcome. I think I remember reading that there are things that can done with it, combined with scrapbooking and stamping, as a demo.
I plan on laminating bookmarks that I make to match cards. I am thrilled with that. I got the 900 series, I hope that is the one that y'all recommend for that size. It was the only one there...
Thanks! I think! lol...

( I just know it'll be the carl cutter next.... [SOB])
Now I am not a demo yet but I am assuming a "set sampler" is a sample (several cards) that you can make using a specifc set. This will show the versatility of what you can do with the set and boost sales...
Gina, you've got it!!
Set Samplers are 'packets' of 4 or 5 different types of cards made with the same set. The set samplers are easily passed around at workshops or camps, so it's easy to see the featured set used with different colors or varied from birthday to thank you cards, etc.
Christy! Congrats on the Xyron!! (That's been on my personal list for a longgggg time).
Thanks Debbi for the card compliment! I'm glad to 'see' you too!
Hahahaha! No, I really didn't start early! But thank you anyway! My special title is very new - twice in April, 2004!
And as for set samplers, mine are also just in the large cello bags, attached together with a topper made from the featured set! I don't do all of my samples this way though, because you can't see whatever neat stuff might be inside the card!
The Carl Cutter is sold at www.everafterarts.com . There are a few discussions on those in the forums, if you'll click 'search', then type in Carl Cutter.
Thanks TexasGrammy, as I said, there is so much to learn! The xyron machine sounds like fun. Uh oh, here goes more more money for supplies!
Happy stampin to you,
Tammy
I'm really enjoying it! The way that I do my set samplers is a little different, I got the idea from my brilliant upline. The topper itself extends down the back of the cards. Here, I'll scan it for you!
It makes it a whole lot more durable, and sturdy!
Smiles,
Christy
