I have started doing more and more paper projects and decided that it was time to buy an adhesive gun. I know that everyone has been raving about the ATG gun, but when I went to my local Hobby Lobby today they did not have it they had the Glue Glider Pro. Price wise the Glue Glider is so much more reasonably priced, especially since I was able to use the 40% off coupon, but before I open it I wanted to see if anyone else has this gun. Does it work well or should I wait and keep looking for the ATG gun? Does anyone know if Michaels carries the ATG gun? We do not have a Michaels where we live, but will be somewhere where there is one this weekend.
Several of my local friends got that glue glider pro and ALL of them eventually replaced it with the ATG. The refills for the GGP are way more expensive than the ATG. They did like the glue glider fine, but eventually wanted the even greater savings of ATG refill.
Best of luck whatever you decide to do.

the tape on that link is not official 3m tape, but I've been using it for about a year and it's been fine for me.
Framing Supply sells the brand name 3m if you want that. The other is a bit cheaper.
I heard that from someone but it made me nervous that it wasn't brand name as I'd heard bad things about the generic guns. I also couldn't find one that was like the 3M gold that is acid free for scrapbooking...which one do you get? I just ordered a 12 pack of tapes so it isn't like I'm going to run out soon but I'm interested in a cheaper option for next time if it is just as good! Thanks for sharing!
LOVE my ATG!!! I think they are somewhat hard to find in stores, so probably should order online. I got mine from Framing Supplies and had a good experience. I got a bunch of refills at the same time to save on shipping.
I use the Glue Glider with ATG tape. I like the size of the GG much better than the ATG gun. The GG refills were so expensive... That's the only reason why I wouldn't recommend their tape.

I didn't think about using the ATG glue in the Glue Glider. I will have to give that a try. I too decided to go with the GG because of the size. I may get the ATG later, that way I will have both the GG to take to crops and the ATG to use at home.
I got my ATG 714 at Pack-N-Tape and they shipped the day I ordered. They also included a roll of tape. At the time it was the cheapest (and had it instock). Most other companies where out of stock at the time. I don't remember exact cost, but I think it was around 40 total. They shipped it 2 day I believe. Was super fast in receiving it.

Just wanted to share the good news: Michael's now has the pink ATG Guns in stock!!! They are selling them for $34.99 and I was able to get one with a 50% off coupon (last week/Friday). So for $17.50, I got the gun and 2 rolls of tape...can't beat that.
You might have to be patient, though. The Michael's I went to in L.A. only had two (& my sister-in-law and I scooped them up)!

Does any of the ATG tape work? I am looking on Amazon and they have a T002 ATG Tape (Acid Neutral): 1/2 in. x 36 yds. (Clear Adhesive on Tan Liner) and a 1/4 in. x 36 yds. for around $4. Is that what you usually get?

I use the 1/4". I'm not sure if the 1/2" will fit in the GG cartridge.
I always buy my tape refills off Ebay, the Scapa brand (Swiss name of 3M). I use 1/2 inch tape though (didn't think I'd like it but I LOVE it now) and when I buy 12 rolls of acid free they are $2.33 each and that INCLUDES shipping.
Here is a link for 1/4 inch tape, buy 12 rolls, free shipping and they are $1.82 each for the 36 yard ones. http://cgi.ebay.com/12-ROLLS-CRAFT-T...item563c95a5b5

I realize this is probably obvious to most of you, but sometimes I'm a klutz! Is it difficult to use the ATG tape in the GG? I love the size of my GG, but not the cost of the refills (even using a 40% coupon!). Did you just pry apart one of the GG cassettes and load the ATG tape? I need all the help I can get! Thanks!

has anyone had a recent order from tape depot? I just ordered another set of 12 rolls in June - wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I seem to be having with this tape. I have purchased before from tape depot and have used my gun and tape for over 2 years now and never had this happen. I use this tape all the time, and since I received and opened this set of tape, I have been thoroughly disappointed.
It seems that about 1/3 of the way thru to tape roll, the main reel becomes loose and starts to move up from the middle, then when winding around the wheels to dispense, it begins to "walk off" the side and breaks. I have had to rewind the gun several times, finally giving up on the roll of tape and moving on to the next (I thought at first it was just that particular roll) But then it happened again.... and again... and again. I am on my 4th roll of tape and have 3 partial rolls that are unusable.
I store them flat the way they say to, and have used them for 2 years now and not run into this problem.I am so disappointed since I have used their tape in the past and have never had this happen. If anyone could please advise me as to what to do, I'd be most appreciative.
ps - I wrote to them over two weeks ago and still have not heard from them directly - disappointing customer service :(
I have the ATG 50 from tape depot. I love it. The tape lasts longer and it holds very well. The only problem I have is that each time I need to load a new roll I have to go online and watch the video. Other than that everything is excellant. I bought it because it was less than the 3 M brand and have not been disappointed. The tape is inexpensive compared to other tapes.
the ATG tape in the GG? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!!!
Take the cartridge apart and look at how the GG tape is wound, and make a note of it, so you are able to wind the ATG tape the same way.
You have to cut off the cardboard left around the center post from the GG tape. Just cut away enough to let the ATG tape fit snug on the post. You will also have to unwind some of the ATG tape in order for it to fit. I wind it onto a smaller tape dispenser, like Tombow's. Or you could just wind the excess to save for later.
When you are putting the tape back on the posts, make sure to tape the end on the back post so it doesn't slip when you wind it. I used a piece of Scotch tape to keep it from moving.
HTH. If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know!
Ok, either I got some bad tape from The Tape Depot or I ordered the wrong tape, because I tried to load it into the GG Pro refill cart. and had to take about 1/2 off the roll in order for it to fit and then the tape doesn't stay stuck to the paper on the roll and ends up everywhere. I ordered the 1/4"x36 yd. roll of ATG craft tape. Is this the right tape? Has anyone else had trouble with this kind of tape?
Yep, the 1/4" is the only size that will fit in the GG cartridge. I have wound several rolls of ATG tape into my GG, and I have had no trouble with the tape coming off. I'm not sure what would cause that.
I had the same problem trying to use the ATG tape in the GG. I taped it to the post, but I think the problem is that it has no way to stop rolling when you are using it. The ATG has a trigger that locks into place so that you can stop it while you pull the adhesive away. With the GG, it just keeps rolling. I got so frustrated and wasted so much tape that I decided not to even bother.
I have used several rolls of ATG tape in my GG with no problems, so it is possible. I do it because the GG gun is a much nicer size for me to hold and store, and you cannot beat the price of the ATG tape.
I went to Michael's today for a pink atg gun. The woman who works there told me that Michaels don't sell the guns. Later, when I was in line to check out, she came up to me and told me she asked her boss about the atg guns and was told they had 2 , but already sold them. Their next shipment may or may not include the atg guns and could be in in about 6 weeks. This is the Michael's in Germantown, Wis.
I typed in ATG gun at Ebay and there is the ATG 50, ATG 700, & ATG 714. What is your preference or is there much difference?
I initially bought the ATG 50 but later gave to my daughter-in-law and bought the 714. Main reason was that the 714 tape tracked along the roller on the side closer to me, where the 50 it tracked on the roller away from me. I'm righthanded. So what that means is I could not see where the tape was laying down along the edge. I much prefer being able to see just where the tape is rolling over the wheels. Not sure if you can make sense out of what I'm saying. Perhaps another can explain better?
I also had problems with the 50 tape spool riding up, there was no 'click' when I pressed it down completely. I ended up having to place the tape spool down, then an empty one on top to keep it in place.
Also the used tape ribbon would undo and I would have to take off the excess several times during the spool, as the 50 does not have an extra piece to keep it from messing up like the 714 does.
Only difference between 714 and 700 is the 700 will use 1/2 inch tape. I 'think' you have to buy an adapter to use the 1/4 inch. But I could have the info confused.

I bought the ATG 50 from The Tape Depot, and I've never had a problem with the tape unwinding or slipping off the spool. You can use both 1/4" and 1/2" tape in it. Also, The Tape Depot has excellent prices. I bought my ATG for $24.99 and the rolls of tape for a little over $2 each.
