I noticed how many eyelets I have sitting in my stamp room, unloved.
It seems as though I have abandoned them for brads! I really want to start using them again because I LOVE the way they look.
I think my reasons for not using them as much is that I have found brads faster and quieter. I know, I have a cropodile and a silent setter that I have to take out of the box. But I still grab the brads.
How about you? What do you prefer and why?

I use brads more often but I prefer eyelets, because they come in so many interesting shapes. And I have the old fashioned pound-them-in-with-a-hammer type of setter, so perhaps that's why I don't use them as often.
I had a bag full of froggie shaped eyelets that were a particular favorite . . .

I like brads mostly because they are quicker. I do use eyelets too, but not as often as brads. When I make gift card holders I mostly use eyelets and ribbon to hold them closed.

I probably prefer the clean front and back of eyelets, but I don't have a manual setter and am intimidated by the cropadile, so I use brads. Brads are just easier to deal with (for me).
I like the ease of brads however, once I purchased the Big Bite Cropadile, I like the easy way to use the eyelets. The one thing they do not tell you is unless you use the same brand (as the cropadile) eyelets, the Big Bite works too well and breaks the little eyelets. You don't know until you ruin the project, that the cheap eyelets will break. I now love my Big Bite and use it more and more.
I love brads. I do think eyelets look nice but they are such a pain in the rump!

Yeah, you figured out the poll! But I didn't select an option because I love brads, eyelets, Dew Drops, and rhinestones. I use it all! I just used an eyelet this week. I always use my Crop-a-Dile for my eyelets. SUPER FAST, easy, and quiet! I say open up that Crop-a-Dile and use some eyelets!

Well, I chose brads---more color to see, but give me some jumbo eyelets and I will put them anywhere, love that you can thread ribbon through and use them as handles!
Brads, but I have oodles of eyelets and I'm starting to use them again so I can decide to either use them up or give them away. It seems the only time I use eyelets is attaching ribbon.
I couldn't answer the poll because there wasn't a spot to mark "both". It depends on the card I'm making, the color I need and what I feel like doing at that moment.

i love brads!
i like eyelets too don't get me wrong... you just have to be aware of what will show BEHIND the layer with the eyelet. i don't know how many times i would get to going, use an eyelet and then... POO! now THAT is gonna show thru...
If I had a choice, and I don't (no eyelets here), I would still choose brads over eyelets. I just like the look better. However, I have found these little candy dots at my LSS that are so awesome. If you're like me, you have made your card/project and then looked at it and said "I should have put brads THERE". Well, candy dots can go anywhere I also lean heavily towards the 1/2 pearls now that I have them in so many different colors!
Funny story about my HUGE eyelet stash that I use to have. In May of 2006, our house caught fire. When we were forced to move out, I had all my eyelets in a tackle box. We packed the car with whatever we could take and drove off down our long driveway. Just as we turned on the busy street we lived on, we heard a crash! My eyelet tackle box had been left on the top of the car! They (all zillion of them) were now all over the busiest street in town. I didn't even look back.
Brads just have more options....they can be blingy, manly, silly, etc.... I do like some eyelets, especially my Halloween ones...but that's about the only time of year I use them...

I voted eyelets, though I seem to be in a minority. Don't get me wrong, I love brads, especially the fancier ones, but I like the way you can thread stuff through eylets. (I'm also counting snaps as eyelets because they need to be set, even though they end up looking like brads. I use snaps even more than eyelets...). Not a big fan of the fancier shaped eyelets, except the jumbo flower ones...and snowflakes. I think eyelets work better on interactive elements too, because they allow easier rotation than brads.
I even like the teensty tiny ones that the Crop-a-Dile is no use for - like on this card here: Flourishes Flower by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers
Oh - and eyelets beat brads hands down for nautical look cards.
I use brads specifically because it's a lot less work than placing an eyelet and I don't always like the way the eyelet looks after being "squished" with my crop-a-dile...LOL ;)
