From Creating Keepsakes Magazine January 2009
2009 Trend Watch by Lori Fairbanks:
Quote:
Trends are enticing and fun, and integrating them into layouts is a surefire way to keep everything fresh and evolving. What if you don't like a certain trend? No worries- you've got two good things going for you. First, so many trends appear simultaneously that if you don't like something, you'll always have several options to explore. Second, trends don't stick around forever. Hopefully this year, you'll find several trends you love.
Listed below are five trends mentioned in the above magazine article:
-Honeybees: Bee images are showing up on packaging, cards, jewelry, and accessories like pillows and decorative pins. The bees are frequently paired with yellow, black, or gold and are accompanied at times by a hive or honeycomb pattern.
-White +1 Color: This combination creates a fresh, energetic look by pairing white with a single color. Patterns and designs are often bold.
-Multicolored Type: Try this fun, happy look for page titles! Coloring each letter a different color energizes basic fonts.
-Transportation Images: Trains, planes, and automobiles, bicycles and more are showing up on stationery, clothing and children's decor. Styles range from detailed vintage to sleek, modern motifs.
-Open Grids: Open-grid patterns are popular on clothing, home decor and accessories. The style range is extensive and includes Greek key, Hollywood regency, Moroccan, chain link, honeycomb and overlapping squares.
Your challenge:
Use one or more of the trends mentioned above on your layout.
This challenge is worth 14 points. To receive all 14 points you must complete you layout and upload it by 11:59pm EST Sunday, January 11th. Layouts completed after this date will receive 7 points.
If you complete your layout and upload it by 11:59pm EST Tuesday, January 6th you will receive double points.
Bonus points challenge:
Use your stamps to create your own embellishments for your layout and receive 10 bonus points.;)
For those of you who are wondering what the heck the points are about, read all about the contest HERE.
Please use the keywords IFC21 for all layouts submitted for this challenge.
Remember to come back here and post a reply with a link to your page so that we can leave you lots of comments!
You can find all submissions for this challenge HERE On a personal note: I apologize for not having a sample for you this week. I have been under the weather since New Year's day and have not felt like creating and by the time I decided on today's challenge it was too late to ask one of my guest designers to create a sample. I hope to be back later in the week with my own creation for this challenge. ;)

I know this was quick but it's only because after reading the challenge I was finnally given an idea that let me use this wonderful picture of my aunt and uncle, that I've wanted to put in my heritage album for a long time. TFL up,up and away by taca410 at Splitcoaststampers

Fantastic Job, Candy! Because you finished before Tuesday night and you created your own embellishment with stamps you have earned 38 points. Way to go!;)
Don't get the points thing, but I completely know what I'm going to do! I found a card I wanted to case (now I'll just make the card and a sb page to match!) that completely fits into one of the trends! Tonight is my plan...

Heather the points are for the contest that runs until Feb 23. Player with most points gets an RAK from me. ;)
Patti in the magazine they were referring to patterns that are all white with one other color. BUT, I did not specify that so, your take works for me!
So you can have 28 points for this one! Thanks for playing. ;)
Patti,

This first one went perfectly with the rainbow chip cake I was baking! A multi-colored title. I couldn't figure out a way to color the foamies in the main part of the title, but the rest of it is multi-colored.
I did one more. Thank you so much for doing this challenge. The photos that I chose to scrap are not the greatest. They would have sat unscrapped for a long time, but when I saw the popcorn and cranberries, I knew it was perfect for the white plus one color challenge. Some of the trend descriptions were not totally clear to me. I hope I did okay.
Jennipher, HELP!!!!
I just uplpoaded my pages. They are in 12x12 gallery but did not go in IFC gallery???? I don't know what happened! I worked on these all evening and my upload time was 11:55eastern? I know I am last minute but it was before deadline. Need HELP!

Reason: forgot link
It's posted so I hope it gets to the right spot...I know for sure that it is in my gallery.
Here's what I do, but there may be a better way. I'm not technically savvy at all. I bring up the page in my gallery. Then I open a new window with the challenge thread. Then I type my message and cut and paste my gallery page in it. There is a way to change the link's name too, so it's nice and pretty, but I haven't figured that out yet. :0)

I think things are just slow for some reason. My pages are in my gallery, but haven't come up into the 12x12 gallery.
