Hello everyone and good evening,
I have some sad news to report. My friend, whom you know as scarlett75, had a small stroke this afternoon. As some of you might know, she has lupus and some other related health issues. One of the side effects of lupus is hyper-coagulation of the blood. She was at lunch with her husband, the first time she's been out of the house for fun in weeks, and it hit her in a restaurant.
She's awake and cognizant, but she's lost some of her ability to communicate. She can form words and speak, but it's a labored process. Her doctor thinks this will get better quickly, but if you know Chris, you know it's agony for her not to be able to communicate as quickly as her mind works. I know she's really missing visiting this forum. Hopefully, she'll be able to use the computer tomorrow night or the next day. But, I thought you all might want to know since she spends so much time in here. She allowed me her username and password to post this to a few of her friends in here, but I spilled a soda on the portion of paper that listed the names of those she wanted to contact. Hopefully, her friends will see this message.
Thanks,
K. Scott

Thanks so much for letting us know the bad news. I will keep Scarlett in my prayers and look forward to her coming back on SCS. Please let her know that we are thinking of her. I would love to send her a get well card, but don't know her address. Is there any way you could let us know her address?

I'm so sorry to hear this! For someone so articulate, it must be incredibly frustrating to have difficulty communicating... Please let her know I'm thinking of her and hoping for a speedy and full recovery.

I was just going to PM her a couple of evenings ago and ask her how she was feeling and then thought I might be bugging her so I didn't. Please tell her I said hello and hope she's better soon. I'd also love her address to send her a card, if she's comfortable with you posting her address. I'm glad you are there for her!

Rather than posting her email (which I think Scarlett did previously on a thread), please Private Message one of us and we can then distribute it to those who wish to send her a card.

Hello again,
This is K. Chris is having her MRI in about an hour. I brought my laptop over and read her some of the entries, but she's still a little "out of it". Her speech is no better than it was yesterday. But, she is getting a good amount of feeling back in her left side. That's great news. She can also read and write. THANK GOD. Yesterday, we weren't sure if she had sustained any mental damage. It doesn't appear that she has, as she wrote a scathing note to the visiting nurse about not washing her hands before drawing her blood. ha!
I've given Chris' address to dstfrommi and rainsong. If you would like to send Chris a card, I know she would love it. Contact them for the info.

Yep that's our Chris, the one we know and love! Give 'em hell girl!
Thank you so much for letting us know. I would really like to send a card. I will ask rainsong for her address. My prayers are with her at this time. God bless.
Chris,
Prayers for strength and energy and for the blessings of heaven to rest upon you. Just know that you are loved and that we are all behind you.
Hugs, Kim
Just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, Chris. You helped me out sooooo much this summer (and you to, K.) in a way I could never repay. I'm wishing you a speedy recovery, my friend.
Sally
