This is for yesterday's challenge to do a card using the verse as the main image -- great challenge Jen, thanks!
I consider this a masculine card. As I've said before, I do think Carte Postale lends itself well to masculine cards; however, some of my friends don't necessarily think these cards I am calling masculine are masculine -- what do you think? I suppose I wouldn't give this to a woodsworker or a trucker, but I do think it is *gentlemanly*. Or do you think it's just plain feminine in dark colors? Please be honest -- I am truly interested to see what you all think!

I totally think it is masculine....I don't really consider these colors to do well for a card for a woman. Honestly, if you made this exact card in pinks or mauves it would turn it into a very feminine card. I do agree with you, this card is more of a gentleman's birthday card, maybe a three piece suit kind of guy. It is beautiful!

I think it is a beautiful card. I love the colors. Maybe people think it's not masculine because of the birds and scrolls even though the colors are masculine. But masculine by me (here in the sticks) is guns, and trucks, and dead birds, and stuff...so I probably wouldn't give it to a guy here. But a classy guy would be o.k.

Another gorgeous card. I think the colors and scrollwork are definitely masculine elements that can take on an almost metallic-like appearance; however to me, the bird gives the card a femininity that might keep me from using this for a man. I think, as with any card, it would depend on the recipient.

I just asked my husband if he thought this looked masculine enough for a man, and he said yes. He liked the colors and the absence of flowers! Great card for a man or a woman!

Excellent card! As far as manly I do think you have to know the guy. I just asked my husband and he wrinkled up his nose and said no. I, however, love it
p.s. My husband just gave a clarification. He said 'manly card' is an oxymoron because men don't like cards. It reminds me of when I gave my boss a birthday card. He said thanks and put it in his back pocket and then sat on it.
