The hardest part of this card is linking to my inspiration...computers are right up there with quantum physics on a list of things I will never be able to understand. Here is my inspiration http://www.wallplatesonline.com/stor...le-Switchplate
I colored my image earlier in the week for Lisa's fun WT challenge "in stitches". In addition to the lady sewing, I used my sewing machine for a border. I was out of ideas on how to finish it until I saw Audrey's cool switch plate bored....I actually have 3 hand painted switch plates in my house.
ThE floral switch plate gave me the idea of a sponged gradient bg with a pattern on top, and I liked the colors. I sponged distress inks in colors close to the ones in the image along the 11 inch edge of white CS. I made the sponged line 2" wide. I
splattered it with water to get a design, but it was a little "blah". My creative process tends to follow the path of a big rock on the top of a hill....once I am on a roll I can'T stop. I sponged the same colored inks through different patterned stencils and then cut the strip into 2 one inch by 11 strips. I lined these 2 strips on top of each other with one going from browns to purple and the other going from purple to brown. I cut a wavy line down the middle resulting in 2 bottom halves and 2 top halves with the colors reversed. I put one bottom piece with a top piece from the opposite strip to get the colors reversed on each 1" by 11" strip, cut them up and made a frame for my image. This is a great way to make your own DP. Wow, when I came upon your card again and saw 50 comments, I knew I had to leave another to get you over that 50 mark. You have to be feeling so wonderful to know we all love your work. You are just too cool for school, girlfriend.

Oh, Francie, this is amazing and truly gorgeous! I am a quilter (well recovery quilter - hehe!), and this card reminds me of a quilt block. It has the center with the stitching, and then the border is amazing with the "batik" looking "fabric" around it. I actually had some beautiful Batik quilt fabric that I finally gave away to our local sewing guild. Beautifully done, Francie, and I love it!! Big hugs!
