A huge thank you to Loll Thompson for all her tips and tricks for working with copper. This truly was a learning experience since I didn't have a torch. I tried the heat gun first, but didn't get that beautiful flow of color that she does. Next, a not so brilliant idea was a bic lighter. Ouch! That thing gets hot fast. Last resort, the gas stove. I had a bit of success with this except that you can't see what you are doing. First attempt, overheated and lost too much color. I took out the copic refills and added some color back in. After finally successfully cutting the poppies I knew that getting that skinny thing glued down was not one of my strong suits. I opted for the inlay. The tiny dots were punched with an old fashioned Making Memories punch set and hammer, then picking the dots out of the tool. The background is a left over neutral gelli print. Thanks for stopping by. Sorry the copper colors do not show up well. The lighting today during another winter storm is less than adequate.

Good golly, Miss Molly - this is AMAZING, Nancy! Wow, what a work of art - from the bg to the beautiful metalic inset - thanks for explaining your process, it sure helps, I wonder if I will be brave enough to give it a go!

This is beautiful, Nancy!! Yes, working with copper can be tricky, but it gives such a rich and beautiful end result. The little copper strings you get from die cutting can be a hazard. Ranger makes an adhesive backed copper sheet. Depending on where you may find them, they are about $6.99 for a 3 pack of 6 x 6 sheets. It's very thin, so some of the more intricate die cuts don't work too well. You also cannot heat it.
I'm playing with it right now!

Holy smokes this is gorgeous! Wow, copper is a whole other ball game. I'm barely in the stadium! :-) I love that poppy die and it looks like it was made for this medium. Wonderful card!

Gorgeous, Nancy! I'm ordering copper and will soon try this. I was hoping my Hobby Lobby had it. They had bronze but not copper. Ugh! Can't wait to get some.
Love your background and the wonderful tulips.
