Finally, I've managed to sit down and use some of the tips I' ve learned while taking an encaustic class.
This was done on a Amersand clayboard board using multi colored enkaustikos wax paints using a demar medium.
It's a time consuming process since each layer of almost splattered wax paint has to be coated with clear wax to give it that 3D look. I dont know if I'll try this again because it's so expensive and so incredibly messy. It's definitely not for those who dont love to clean up gigantic messes. Not only that, but the card doesnt stand upright without support. Several layers of encaustic wax paints become extremely heavy.

WOW, Anne, this is beyond gorgeous!! I have been admiring the encaustic technique, and I think this is one of the most beautiful I have seen. I love your colors and what you have created. I see a field of perhaps wild flower - the gold color being wild mustard, or some type of flowers. I see a pine cone in the foreground. I love the way you have the dark lines placed, and your dots really add some fun flavor. You should feel quite proud of this piece, it is truly amazing. I hope you hang it somewhere where it can be seen and appreciated. Gorgeous!!

Beautiful card. Too bad about the time, the mess and the money, because the result is fabulous - really!
