What a fantastic challenge! I loved all the examples, but I chose Mt Fuji & Wave. Mainly, because I love the image and actually own it in two sizes. This is the small one.
I stamped the image (Museum Stamps) on matte coat paper w/ the coal ink, then heat set it. I used a water brush and various colors of reinkers to water color the image. I added the ocean spray w/ a white gel pen. I did a very thin edging w/ a black marker then attached it to a teal layer. I stamped the kanji (Stampendous) on the side.
Layered a bunch of times, alternating w/ the tangerine and black then finally onto a teal card. The ribbon was added somewhere in the middle of the layers and I added faux brads (made w/ 2 sizes of hole punches). TFL and close ups on my blog: The Write Stuff.
ETA: oops, forgot I did the image and next two layers w/ the Nestie rectangles that I resized. Tutorial Here.

Wow, I am in awe! This is gorgeous, I have goose bumps! Your painting, your layout, the colors, it's just stunning. If you don't know who to send it to I'll PM you my address.
Friends are like the walls of a house. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes you lean on them. But sometimes, it's enough to know they're just standing by.
