In honor of President's Day, we are to limit ourselves to a Presidential connection. Looking at my cowboy snowman you may wonder, but I can explain.
As y'all may know, I'm a native Texan and yesterday in the Dallas area they had a record 12 inches of snow! That's just incredible! We're supposed to get the snow today here in N. GA. Anyway, we've had several Presidents from Texas: LBJ, Bush the first and junior. Eisenhower was actually the first President from Texas. (Even though KS claims him, he was born in Dennison, TX). I used to work around the corner from the house Bush the first built in Houston. While he was President I used to see him and get caught in his motorcades frequently. Bush jr. and LBJ both have/had ranches. So if you were visiting them today, this is what it would look like.
For my card, I stamped the cowboy snowman scene on the front of a 5.5 x 4.25 (A2) white card, colored it w/ markers and a blender, then masked it and used my Cindy (Mothermark) inspired cloud stencil to sponge in the clouds. I stamped the snowflake bg around the edges of the card front. The white frame has the snowflakes again and I cut the oval using a Spellbinders nestie, then sponged around the edges and attached it to a cobalt blue layer (I also cut out the center of this layer so that the snowman scene would show through).
A couple of red snowflakes were added to the upper left corner and I used the Birthday embossing folder on a piece of metallic silver c/s and cut out just the one word (the silver c/s is actually the liner of chewing gum container, lol). After all, President's Day honors the birthdays of our Presidents so it's only appropriate to have a birthday greeting. Some stickles was added to the snow.
Thanks for stopping by! Y'all keep warm! My blog:The Write Stuff. Sorry! I had to delete a bunch of really old posts from my blog & this is one of them.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch ... I definitely see the presidential connection going on here, Julie. Your card is unequivacally darling. So you must have been one of the first Bush's neighbor that was complaining on national TV about his motorcades. Not everyone can say they lived right around the corner from him.

Julie this is too cool (excuse the pun)!!! I never really think of farms and snow - this is such a fun card and I love the explanation you've given for your inspiration!!!

Adorable Texas snowman! Love all the sparkle! Enjoy the snow...I don't imagine it will stay long in Texas (or GA). If you need more, we seem to keep it around for about 6 months!!
