I have been wanting to try making a rag quilt card for a long time. Today's challenge gave me the push I needed.......my card......
I have been tossing the how to's for this card in my head for a long time. Today I figured out what to do. I punched out 12 squares of white cs, sponged each sunset orange.
Cut out 12 squares of fabric from my stash, glued them to the cs squares, then sloppy-ly sewed a square in the middle of each. Used my sew mini Janome machine. Not quite use to it yet. Anyway, then I clipped the fabric around each square.
Since I couldn't throw this is the washing machine and dryer, I took a toothbrush and scrubbed the clipped edges to fluff them.
Took a white card, stamped my falling apart mutnik square stamp for the border. Then sponged with tea dye.
Glued my squares together to make my rag quilt. Stamped the WS sheep on white cs, colored with copics then took a artist pen and added the applique stitches on the edges. Versa marked, clear ep'd then cut out the sheep popping him up on the quilt.
Well, what do you think? Does it look like a rag quilt? Hope you think so.......TFL :0)

Nutmeg, this definitely looks like a quilt! I love the colors and the stitching. Of course, that WS image is just the greatest. Hey, I see some pretty neat sewing, too. In the future, just an FYI, all you have to do to fray your edges is pull a few threads away from the corners. That might be a little easier than brushing. Geez, I'm impressed: I actually know something you dont. Yikes, that doesnt happen every day as we both know. Love your card.

You are a kick in the pants. And I mean that in the best possible way.
Yes, your rag quilt looks like it has been washed and fluffed. Yes, I think YOU are a hoot that you used a toothbrush to acheive this effect.
Yes, I think you are crazy talented ... your narratives just make it all the more fun.
Yikes, I have been away from SCS for only a short spell and yet I feel that I've missed so much! LOL
Fabulous creation, Ms Cathy aka Nutmeg aka Mutnik aka NutMut!
