Happy (belated) St. Patrick's Day. This is for Stamperrobin's fun Free for All challenge...Going to Pot, found here.
Here we have young Paddy, painted green in honour of the occasion and wearing his big brothers special leprechaun hat. I am having heaps of fun making cards (card fronts) to go in my art book. I make notes in the book about colours, techniques, stamps etc. It is good to flick through the book when I am having a brain freeze.
The background was done using Milled Lavender and Seedless Preserves distress inks and the Smack & Squirt technique - smack distress ink pad onto al foil, squirt on water and using a foam blending tool, scrub the inky water onto the cardstock. Scrub a bit of undiluted ink around the edges. The ground was done with the same method using Mowed Grass. Walnut stain was used around the border.
I forgot to say, I stamped the tree trunk first, it is only short , so I flipped it upside down and stamped some more of the straight part of the trunk. The MISTI is fabulous for lining the trunk up.
The trunk is by Lavinia Stamps - seriously gorgeous stamps but packaged very badly. If you own any Lavinia Stamps it is important to take them off the printed acetate. Throw the acetate out. If the black printed acetate has already started to flake into tiny bits, wash your stamps
straight away and store them in different packaging. You need to be very gentle when removing the flakes from silhouette images.
Young Paddy was coloured with Spectrum Noirs, his brothers hat (homemade by me) was coloured with markers and distress ink. The pot was cut from a fabulous old book that has advertisements of old collectables and trinkets.
Thank you for looking and I hope you get a chance to join in the fun.

Susie, this is the cutest card. I always hope that your cards have a crazy bird on them. Of course I always look forward to seeing your wonderful creations.

Paddy's brother's hat may have been made in Australia but it looks just like what I have been seeing over the last couple of weeks in all the shops around town . As always your background (tree and silhouettes) is a magical masterpiece. And I LOVE your choice of pot - makes me think of the old saucepans that we had when I first started cooking, and the one my aunt uses as a water bowl for her dog.
Oh, Susie , you are amazing, and your card is amazing! Thanks for sharing your process with us! I have a crazy bird stamp set and die, and have yet to use it! But I can never do anything like this!

Oh Susie this is so super fun. I love your crazy birds cards and this one is just so super fun. Love his hat and love your great BG. I have so tried your smack and squirt and I still need loads of practice because I can't seem to get anything nearly as nice as what you do on these wonderful cards. I shall keep trying...some day I hope to get it....a girl can dream to be as good as Susie.

What a rollicking fun good St Patty's Day card - Irish stew indeed!! I never tire of hearing of your creative escapades and how you achieved certain looks on your cards! You did a great job making Paddy's hat, but he does look a bit perplexed at why he is sitting in a stew pot!! Great job as always, Susie!!

This is too funny! Marvelous hat on your bird, is he green from worrying about what's next? Hope you're going to play in the VSN. I really want to see what you'd create in my challenge.
