Happy (belated) St. Patrick's Day. This is for Stamperrobin's fun Free for All challenge...Going to Pot, found here.
Here we have young Paddy, painted green in honour of the occasion and wearing his big brothers special leprechaun hat. I am having heaps of fun making cards (card fronts) to go in my art book. I make notes in the book about colours, techniques, stamps etc. It is good to flick through the book when I am having a brain freeze.
The background was done using Milled Lavender and Seedless Preserves distress inks and the Smack & Squirt technique - smack distress ink pad onto al foil, squirt on water and using a foam blending tool, scrub the inky water onto the cardstock. Scrub a bit of undiluted ink around the edges. The ground was done with the same method using Mowed Grass. Walnut stain was used around the border.
I forgot to say, I stamped the tree trunk first, it is only short , so I flipped it upside down and stamped some more of the straight part of the trunk. The MISTI is fabulous for lining the trunk up.
The trunk is by Lavinia Stamps - seriously gorgeous stamps but packaged very badly. If you own any Lavinia Stamps it is important to take them off the printed acetate. Throw the acetate out. If the black printed acetate has already started to flake into tiny bits, wash your stamps
straight away and store them in different packaging. You need to be very gentle when removing the flakes from silhouette images.
Young Paddy was coloured with Spectrum Noirs, his brothers hat (homemade by me) was coloured with markers and distress ink. The pot was cut from a fabulous old book that has advertisements of old collectables and trinkets.
Thank you for looking and I hope you get a chance to join in the fun.

I grinned when I saw this card! Never thought of these guys for St Patrick's day and what a wonderful job you did with him. That tub is hilarious and love the dimension you achieved! Thanks for the tip on Lavinia stamps. I don't have any yet but was tempted.

That awesome green hat just pops off the page...it looks so 3D. I love the pot, and only you, Susie, would think so outside the box to come up with the idea to put the adorable green bird in the tub. I love the bg color. Amazing card. Right into my favs.

Susie...such absolutely Luscious colors!!! And what a Devine vine having it's way with your Impressive tree! You are not only a Delightful cardmaker, but also a milliner (hat maker, in case this means something else in your part of the world). LOVE that hat! I do hope that pot is not a cook pot young Paddy has planted himself into (Great idea for the pot, by the way). That could develop into a disaster for the unsuspecting faux leprechaun. Stewed bird can be quite tasty. The look on his face shows that he has discovered that there is NO gold in that particular pot. Run Paddy, run!....I'm sure all will turn out well. (Sorry Susie, I couldn't resist creating a little drama.)
I too have been eyeing those magnificent creations by Lavinia Stamps. Thanks for the tip!

Oh WOW! What a super creative card.. love the story and always love the backgrounds.. you must have boxes filled with them in every color theme.
He must really be twisted up short to get his long legs to fold down into the very short pot... hee hee..
thanks for the smile.. everything came together perfectly

Your little leprechaun definitely didn't find his pot of gold at the end of the rainbow - looks like someone got there before him - judging by the look on his face. I think he needs a Guinness or two to recover from the shock. Another totally wonderful creation. Raining here Susie - looks like summer has gone now - I am hunting around for something warmer to wear today.

What a fun card...I love those crazy birds and I love what you've done with him here. The bright green of the bird and his fun hat look great against the violet background. Striking!
