Super challenge! I think this will float, even w/ the anchor, lol. The only c/s I used was vanilla; everything is stamped w/ the same indigo ink; my one neutral is that little section of peachy tan on the circular paint chip and the same coloring in my image; my one other color is the blues in the paint chips.
I stamped the anchor scene twice on vanilla, added just a hint of color, bleached the anchor & clouds, then die cut the base image and cut out the anchor section of the other and layered on top of the base. I cut the backing paint chip w/ a larger circle then sliced off the bottoms.
The bg is a large blue paint chip that I embossed w/ the ODBD fish embossing plate (I was happy to find it worked so well w/ my new Spellbinders Grand Calibur). I left the plate in place and sanded the top so the fish would show up better.
The sentiment has the top and right sides punched and the left side torn. I added a couple of eyelets and tied some little twine through. The finished vanilla card measures 4.25 x 5.5.
Thanks so much for looking! Closeups are on my blog: The Write Stuff.

I really like all the different shades of blue in the embossed background. That image reminds me so much of a memorial in an old churchyard that we visited in Cornwall. It was a little village along one of the creeks, with a lot of sailors buried in it.

Wow, Julie, what a winning card this is. I love that fish and your blue eyelets. How perfect! Fabulously designed and even though it's a very nautical card, you managed to gracefully add that beautiful sentiment.

Fabulous! I love the nautical scene and the great take on the "almost monochrome" challenge.
