My cousin, CJ, turns 4 this month, and I wanted to make a fun card for him. So, I thought that I would give a gel card a try! These are so fun and easy to make!
I pulled out my Just Keep Swimming set from Gina K. Designs, I thought it would be fun to make a little underwater scene using the gel card technique. I stamped the fish and octopus on watercolor paper with black stazon, then colored them using the Watercoloring with Markers technique: Watercoloring With Markers Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers. I didn't follow the tutorial here on SCS, but here is a link to it: Gel (Water) Card Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers. I actually first saw this technique on Nichole Heady's blog: http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capt...troducing.html. I squirted about 1 tbs. of hair gel into a small ziplock bag, measuring about 3" x 6" (I got them in the beading/jewelry section at Michael's). After I closed the bag, I "smooshed" the gel all around in it so that all of the bag was covered in gel. I then trimmed the closing end of the bag, so it would fit on my card! I used my large oval nestabilities to create the opening in the brilliant blue card front. I stamped the bubble image (from Rubber Stampede) on the card front in whisper white ink. I adhered the fish and octopus to the bashful blue cardfront with dimensionals. I used sticky strip to attach the gel bag and card front the the card base. On the inside of the card I stamped the sentiment "I sea it's your birthday!", and another fish.
This card was fun to make and I think CJ will enjoy it, although I am betting that hair gel ends up everywhere!!!
Thanks for looking!

Oh my gosh, I so wish I could create a card like this, Dorothy! You've got way more talent than I, so I'll just have to appreciate your talent from afar! This is just so spectacular. It's absolutely outstanding! Love it
