To the left of my card you can see the inspiration I used. It is on the cover of the new issue of Country Magazine. It is a picture of a weathered window with a flower box full of flowers.
Earlier in the day, I had made a piece of background paper that I was trying to figure out how to use, saw this picture and the rest is history. Here are the details:
Background paper I made - put a layer of red paint, let it dry, then crackle medium, let dry until tacky, then light ivory paint on a grocery bag. Speed-ed up drying with dryer so it would crackle more. Then sponged distress ink-tea dye to age a little more.
Cut out a piece of black cs for the window, sponged brilliance moonlight white so it wouldn't be so dark. Cut out a piece of acetate, stamped a cat with stazon on the front, colored it from behind with copic markers. Cut out pieces of my weathered background to make the window frame and flower box.
Put my new window on front of a piece of cs that I scored and sponged sail boat blue, sponging edges a little more. Put this all on a white speckled card that I sponged the edges with distress ink-tea dye.
On w/c paper, stamped several different flowers and grass, masking the row of flowers, with brilliance black then clear embossing them. Colored all images with re-inkers. Then versa marked all images and clear ep them. Cut them out and placed them on the card, popping up the row of flowers.
Not quite like a magazine cover, but it was a fun project..........TFL :0)

WOW! WOW! WOW! Are your sure we are related!! This is such a great card. Love the crackled window and it even looks like nails are weathered on top corners. When I get this card (hint, hint), I WILL frame it. Inspired from a magazine cover...I get inspired, I just don't know what to do with my inspirations!!! TFS.

How cool to see likeminded inspiration. You did an awesome job. Love the cracking method and your awesome flower box. I found it really difficult and still am not happy with mine. How fun to play and share ideas. TFS

Cathy, I feel like I'm in a candy store - a cyber candy store where I cant have anything! Bummer for me! This is a masterpiece, my dear friend, simply a masterpiece. I favorite all your works of art, but neither you nor this gallery will ever see them: You are the beginning and the end of talent. I'm smart enough to know I dont even fall in the middle! You are amazing! I so applaud your skills and so admire your creations!

OH MY GOSH this is beautiful. I was so thrilled when I read you got your inspiration from County mag. I thought the same thing the day it came in the mail but I haven't even tried to do it yet. Great job!
