My DadÂ’s birthday was the 9th of April. I was thinking of my wheat and dairy farmer dad when I made this card.
And we would always find one stray stalk of wheat growing the following year where it just didnÂ’t belong from the current yearÂ’s plantings and I recreated it here on paper in the plowed field with a few weed flowers.
-First step is to stamp on the sun using the rock and roll technique .
-Next stamp on the wheat and color in with Prismacolor pencils. Using a VersaMark pen ink go over the wheat and heat emboss using clear powder.
-Mask off the sun using a sticky note.
-Masking with plain torn paper was done for the sky. To keep the papers from moving - using blue painters tape I secure a sheet of paper to the table, secure the panel to the table and one piece of the torn paper to cover the ground area. Save both pieces and switch them to sponge on the ground.
-I also stamped on the grass and drew on some stems and flowers using gel pens.
-The Cuttlebug panel was done with the negative technique found here
-The brad mates are created by punching a 1/16” circle, I just eyeball it and line up the ¼” square punch over it and punch.

Gorgeous card, Roxie!!!! Love your sky and all of the masking - what a fabulous card!!! So rich in colour - and the distressed stripes are just perfect with this harvest image!!
Really lovely - and are you going to bed shortly, or will you be getting that coffee you mentioned in that little beatlemania party that was going on in the gallery??? ;)
