I made this card for my friend Beth, who is not feeling good right now. I feel bad because I can't be there with her (she lives about 3,000 miles away) and her husband is out-to-sea right now. This card is also for this week's Technique Lover's Challenge- flap fold cards, and for this week's Color Challenge- whisper soft gray. My closed card measures 4-1/4"h x 3-3/4"w. Here is a link to the tutorial for the card by Rose Ann Reynolds: http://scor-pal.com/feb_magazine/ind...es/Page449.htm.
I really wanted to use my Bloomin' Beautiful set, I love that potted hydrangea! To color in the main image I followed reneejul1's No Copics?? No Problem! tutorial, which can be found here: http://paperpleasing.typepad.com/my_...ics-no-pr.html. I used bashful blue and brocade blue SU! markers on the blooms, and sahara sand and mellow moss SU! markers on the pot. I used the Fiskar's circle cutter to cut out the main image and I used the Marvy giga scallop circle punch to cut out the basic gray mat. The main card body is basic gray cs. I used soft sky for the panels on the outside and stamped the Polka Dot bg on it in basic gray ink. On the inside I cut a panel of whisper white and matted it with soft sky. On the whisper white panel, I stamped the Polka Dot bg in soft sky ink. I also stamped the Get Well sentiment from Sincere Salutations on this panel, in basic gray ink. I tied a piece of Basic Gray taffeta ribbon around the top flap of the card. I used Tombo Mono Multi Adhesive to make a sticky spot for the enclosure. I just put some of the glue on the back of the scalloped panel and allowed it to dry. It sticks when I close the card, and pulls right open without tearing the paper!
This is a pretty simple card, but I am very happy with how it turned out. I think it will cheer-up Beth! Thanks for looking and I hope you all have a fabulous day!
