I use unmounted stamps almost exclusively (clear and rubber) and this is a great way to store them. I just get a hanging file and cut it in half, giving me two pieces. Then I glue acetate to each piece. I stamp my image on paper, glue the paper on, then store the stamp directly beneath it using Aileen's Tack it Over and Over if it's a rubber stamp. If it's a clear stamp it will stick on it's own. Then I hang them in a box meant for storing files and put a label on it, i.e., flowers, butterflies, sentiments, etc. The box sits right beside my chair. I've got instant access to every stamp I own.

Great idea! Then when you need them to be portable all you need to do is put whatever set you are going to use in a cd case instead of buying a bunch of those for every set and having a space issue with cd cases. Brilliant.

Okay, years after this was originally posted, I'm still lovin' this idea. I saw it before, didn't bookmark it, couldn't find it again, and now I have. I am working hard to put this system together for my stamps. I am so tired of looking in a zillion different differnet places for stamp. Did I say I love, love, love this idea?! Thanks so mmuch for sharing.
