I wanted to get this posted today in time for the Bad Girls’ drawing (it's so exciting!!) Not thrilled with the photo quality—I think I need a lesson on taking pics of album pages!
This is a layout of my granddaughterÂ’s broken arm adventure last fall when she fell off the school slide. She was NOT a happy camper the day it happened, but she doesnÂ’t let things keep her down for long!
Journaling on the 2 pages: *So, what can turn a happy 5-year old girl into a not-so-happy camper??? How about a tumble off a playground slide and the diagnosis of a broken arm???
One day, Mady was her usual self, joking and cavorting -- the very next day she wore a pretty sad face after falling from the slide at school. When Mom and Dad received a call from the school telling them Mady had fallen off the slide and hurt her arm pretty badly, Dad called Grandpa Bob right away and asked him if he could go to Mady’s school and be with her until they could arrive. Little Miss Madyson was NOT a happy girl when Grandpa arrived (it was on his birthday—Friday, September 21st!), nor were her mom and dad when they were told at the hospital that Mady most likely had a broken arm. Mady came home with a sling and doctor’s orders to see a specialist.
The diagnosis of a broken arm was confirmed but they said they couldn’t put a cast on it for a few weeks, so Grandma Wendy and Mady decorated her sling that weekend and Mady went back to school on Monday to show it off. Two weeks later, she finally got a shocking pink hard cast put on. On October 5th, Grandma took some photos of Mady at the “scene of the accident.*
On this page I tried:
AniiaÂ’s challenge: Emboss with stamps.
IrisÂ’s challenge: Stamp an image and cut it out to create your own die-cut embellishment in your page.
All of the larger flower embellishments are stamped and cut or punched out and most are embossed with clear or kaleidoscope EP and have popped-up layers. They have blue stickles in the centers
I also have hidden journaling behind the top right photo. (CammieÂ’s challenge from a few weeks ago SBDD09.) I used sticky tape on the sides and bottom of the photo to make a strong bond so the journaling card could be pulled out from behind the photo safely.
For the large photo of my DGD on the slide, I blew it up, used a photo editing filter to change the colors and cartoonize the picture a bit then cut out an untouched photo of just my DGD and put her back on the slide popping her up slightly with dimensionals. IRL it has a neat effect.
The challenges this week were awesome. Wish IÂ’d had time to do more before the drawing. Thank you, Wendy, and the Bad Girls design team!
