Well, I have to admit that when I saw the color challenge today, I had my doubts. Yo Yo Yellow, Going Gray, and Basic Gray are definitely not the top colors on my list. I like and have used the grays before, but the yellow is a color I have been avoiding. But, I am definitely happy with the final result! The gray's balance the yellow very well.
All of the gray just screamed for the adorable hippo from my Just So Hippy set, designed by Melanie Muenchinger for Gina K Designs. I stamped the hippo on whisper white cs in black stazon. I stamped the little heart "tattoo" in black stazon also. I colored the hippo and tattoo with prismacolors and gamsol, using the Gamsol Magic technique Gamsol Magic Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers. I added the photo corners (I used my new photo corners punch!!!), and they are basic gray and yo yo yellow. I stamped the heart balloon (from Just So Hippy) on yo yo yellow in basic black, then I stamped the dot bg from Itty Bitty Backgrounds in real red. Sorry Emily, I just had to cheat a little! (; The main image is matted with the yellow and basic gray.
The main bg panel is going gray and was made using the Faux Linen technique (I don't have any going gray cs). Here is the link to the tutorial for this technique: Faux Linen Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers. I then stamped the heart balloon in basic gray on the bg. I added the photo corners and silver brads. The bg is matted with yo yo yellow and basic gray.
The sentiment is stamped in basic gray on the yellow layer. I used the word window punch to make the opening in the faux linen layer.
I think this will be a fun Valentine to send to one of my friends. I hope you like it and thanks for looking!
