This card is for a challenge between a few my SCS friends...we were to make a HOT card... here is my story
Last week was fair week for us, 4H llama club
We had to spend the entire week there with the llamas on display before our show on the last day of the fair (Friday)!
It had to be the HOTTEST fair we've had in ages!! temps in the 90's with the heat index 100 plus!
On Thursday evening we were under a thunderstorm watch. I was busy helping kids get their llamas groomed...it started to rain...
One of the kids was in the stall with her llama who was next to a very nervous LARGE horse. (I'm trying to calm the horse down before he jumps the gate!) Nervous because he's just that way, nervous because he's never seen a llama before and nervous because by now it's thundering and raining heavily.
All of a sudden, about 50 feet across from our barn, lightning strikes a tree! BAM! It was deafening!! I screamed, the horse about jumped out, Megan and Buttons were burried in the deepest corner of his stall. Torrential rain! Then another one behind me a little farther this time... then it started letting up.
(my DH had been at the end of the barns trying to hold down the 2 canopy's we had, the long one over the portable pen we had 3 llamas in about lifted and flew to the next town....he's hollering at me to come help before it does!)
So........after the storm passed... we realized the strike I saw (which blew bark and a branch up to the barns) also fried this truck and several other cars around it! The burn spot on the grill (I enhanced it) is where it jumped from the tree to the truck! Also later found out others had screamed, but I never heard anyone but myself!!
So there you have my HOT card!!
I printed the pic on cs, poked a hole in the 'lightning' spot and burned the edges and hole with a lighter.
Sketched the tree and used my new clear stamps for the branches and leaves, the cutout branch is dtp'd with black to make them look fried!

OMG! What a frightful experience! The horses and llamas were probably thinking...they are trying to calm us down, who is gonna calm her down! What an ordeal....luckily no one was hurt except the truck. Yikes! What a great card to tell your story! It's awesome!

Scary day, Dawn!!! Perfect HOT card, then... glad you all came out of it okay.... Glad I live in the very moderate temps of Vancouver - we go as high as oh, maybe 80 in the summer and oh, 32 in the winter... - and we would think 32 was really very cold..And no thunderstorms here. Yeah. the place to live!!! Well, you probably have great weather all year round though. oh well. We get a lot of rain. sigh.

Wow ! I guess this is a hot card! Glad to hear no human or animal was injured in the story of the making of this card! You'll have to frame this one to remind you of this storm! - as if you need reminding!
great card! love how you depicted your true story on it!

Clever idea for this challenge Dawn, I am no big fan of storms (only plus for this no rain thing no storms either) ....... would have been pretty scary for sure .... think I would have screamed too. Glad no one was hurt!

Now this is a new interpretation of "Great balls of fire". For those of us who are old enough to remember that song, now I couldn't be that old so I must of heard my parents playing that song, we will never hear that song without thinking of this hot card. Great job, great story, Dawn. Glad the horse didn't escape, not telling how far he would have ran because I bet he was plenty scared.
