Paper: Garden Green, Brocade Blue, Close to Cocoa, Summer Sun, Whisper White
Ink: Garden Green, Basic Brown
Techniques: Watercoloring with AquaPainter
I made “baby’s first year” scrapbooks for two friends of mine last year and I’m just now getting around to posting the pictures. Each month has a two-page layout done in seasonal colors and each one has a space for a 5x7 photo and several smaller ones. I wrote the sizes for the pictures on the mats so the new moms would be able to tell what size pictures they’d need to put in each place. I also left space for journaling (the white block). Titles for each month were done with a Sizzix machine.
At first I was going to do a beach theme for one of the summer months, but neither of my friends are really “beach people” and I couldn’t think of anything in particular for Father’s Day (our hubbies are all military, so ties really don’t work for the fallback Father’s Day present) so I went to the “masculine card standby”, Lovely As A Tree. I stamped the small leaf in Garden Green on the green paper, tore the border, and did a thin border of Close to Cocoa with it. Gotta love those torn borders. I stamped the tree with Basic Brown on Whisper White three times, cut it in a circle, and then watercolored it with brown and green ink. There are three 4x5 photos and one 4x6 for this layout in addition to the 5x7 focal point.
