Dina's MIX today was a color challenge for her Mom's birthday. Her Mom loves purples, blues, muted colors and butterflies. So what the heck is the orange/yellow daisy doing in there? Well, you know, it's a complimentary color to the others.
Ok, here is the truth. This was my practice flower for Wednesday's WCW and I liked it so much that I saved it. I didn't spend much time on it before jumping into my real piece so there isn't much variation of color. Fortunately I painted it on an almost clean piece of decent wc paper so I could cut it out. The rest of the elements were colored with Distress inks: tumbled glass, milled lavender and dusty concord. I used my finger to add a little of the Nuvo drops on the butterfly
and few dots of the same color on the circle. I really like how the stenciled background turned out with Mom's favorite colors. I'll put a happy birthday sentiment inside.
Thanks for the challenges and happy birthday to Mom!

Wonderful hand painted flower ... I don't blame you for saving it for a card! The stenciled background really pulls this design together. Your diecut butterfly is so delicate and lovely.
